NO CP, NO REWARDS
Here is my pledge to the Splinterlands community. NO CP, NO REWARDS. Please, let me explain:
Few minutes before the writing, this was the status of Champions Leaderboard. There are several accounts in there, who are either bots or humans who played with rental cards, but do not have the cards at the moment. This means, they (human or bots) have rented cards, early in the season, and played with others (also likely each-other), and gained lot of ranking points quickly. Then their card rental are either canceled or they themselves have cancelled them due to 'high' prices. Therefore, at the end of season they do not have the CP required to be in the Champions League.
So What? What is the Problem?
The problems are:
- Poor Visibility: Yes, it matters! There is a concept called "spirit of the game". No this is not about human vs bots. It is about exploitation. It must be stopped.
- Undermining Stakeholders: While they likely won't get the Champions rewards but they will get the DEC, which they will sell immediately, thereby putting selling pressure on the in-game currency.

The above are the relevent comments from cryptomancer, which is highly encouraging. I personally have full trust towards the Splinterlands team and I know they will provide a solution to this problem.
In the meantime!
This is my personal view. I am reluctant to rent to bots and humans who are here to exploit the splinterlands ecosystem. Jarvie recently published a video with a list of many bot accounts. Following that, I have cancelled all rentals to those accounts. The trouble is that the process in time consuming and manual, and those account can still rent from me. However, until the solution is reached, I will actively continue to cancel rentals to those accounts listed by Jarvie. If I lose on rental revenue, so be it!

I agree bots are an issue, for these and other issues, the most important of which, in my opinion, is because in the entry leagues they make the new players experience very frustrating. While the leader board issue without CP should be indeed addressed, I do hope developers will also take action regarding lower leagues. For making player eperience less frustrating, one option I see is that every account should self/declare human or bot (which would not be allowed to change during a season), and every player may chose either to battle against any opponent or to battle only humans (thus also accepting that matching waiting time could be longer). Of course, other options are possible too.
By the way, you state that those accounts in the LB "...are either bots or humans who played with rental cards, but do not have the cards at the moment" - I suppose they could also be humans with own CP that decide to make use of the high rental prices during EOS and put their cards to rent after they guarantee LB reward, couldn't it be?
your second point can easily be verified. Blockchain is public...you can easily check which card anyone owns... go ahead and check this link below :)

These accounts are a DRAIN on the system. I call them LEECH.
I didn't realise they still got the DEC from the leaderboard.
It's great that the team are looking into solutions for this... I wonder if it's also possible for PeakMonsters can maintain a list of these types of bots (I don't have a problem with bots playing in general) that we can either not rent to, or cancel our rentals to anyone on the list with a single button click.
I don't have a problem with bots either, as long as they do not exploit the system. You are an old timer, do you remember j6969 and his lambo army?
Therefore, we nip it in the bud.
Yep. That whole thing was pretty ridiculous.
Do they receive any champion points from this?
it would = some SPS airdrops
Yes, I am sure they would.
This is the first time I am noticing this at Champions LB though. We have to nip this in the bud!
I appreciate you care about game's economy more than your own rentals and manually cancelling would also be a lot of work still you r doing it. Much !LUV and respect for that.
(1/1) gave you LUV.

Given the current emission rate of LUV pushing 500/day, increases to required LUV levels will likely be forthcoming.@dlmmqb
This is for the DEC prizes right? As I never am up there in those charts.. its unfamiliar to me. If so.. the above will fix it.
Yeah, mostly talking about the Champions Leaderboards....the top 50 spots. That receives special EOS rewards
This is sad because I know some of the IGNs here who make a living out of learning the meta, getting good, spend hours to rent and battling whales with just rented cards just so they can sell the earnings p2p and provide for the family.
I understand that Splinterlands is just a fun game for some people and this is my first and top NFT but I know people who make this a secondary if not a primary source of income that they do their best to win to take advantage of the opportunity and earn.
I guess, what I'm saying is that, just because some people don't own their CP doesn't mean they don't deserve to win and earn. Card renting is a legit way of using cards that most people can't afford. Making a proposal to remove the opportunity for others to earn even tho they are good enough, skillwise, just because they can't afford the cards that only a handful can buy is quite weird.
When it comes to win-traders and cheaters, tho. I agree with you. They should be banned

@quickdrawchev
At what cost?
If everyone sell everything that they earn from the game, then in just a few days the in-game currency will be worth zero. The economy of the game relies heavily on a balance between buy and sell, without that there is no game.
Think about it!
That is where other players who can actually afford to own their cards come in. Some people play differently. We can't make the extremes as a premise for an argument.
Tho, I agree with you that win-traders should be banned, the proposal to exclude non-CP owning players from rewards only favors those who are either OG to the game or who can spend thousands of $$$ to actually own their deck.
The real solution is here is to GIT GUD. Just because someone can shell out money to buy cards doesn't mean they are only ones who deserve to win and compete.
Therefore the concept of CP. CP doesn't require card ownership, it does howevers requires cards to be in the account for the entire season, especially at the end of season when rewards are calculated. Which is the fact I am talking about. Again, Rental cards must be there at the end-of-season to qualify for the rewards.
With the price of the rental at EOS and how much DEC peeps that don't own cards to compete spend, requiring them to rent for power is a sentence that says they shouldn't compete anymore.
I think NOT getting the EOS chest rewards should be penalty enough.
CP = Hundreds of Chests
Skill = Leaderboard DEC
In my book, not a bad trade for a healthy game.
We are not reading the same book :)
Changes WILL BE implemented whether you like it or not. Otherwise it’s a drain on the game economy which we will prevent at any cost.
I hope so too. Changes presented like not revealing the name before the matches will certainly help against win trading. Investigating suspicious behaviors like multiple surrenders and accounts fielding 1 monster instead of a full team should certainly be done in an official capacity.
Now, preventing people who makes the effort to learn the necessarily skill to win from earning rewards just because they can't shell out tons of money is elitist and tyrannical.
The assets that these people win are also sold back to the market, which means they aren't lost and are still revolving around the economy.
Grinders make the effort to gain assets by investing their time so they can earn food money while whales buy it from them so they get to stack up on assets without needing to do manual labor is fair and square in my book.
You might as well remove the rental system if you don't want people to rent cards to compete.
.
How can this problem be solved?
These are 100 bots%
There are many ways: Team will likely find a balanced solution
etc.. etc..
They don't get awards, so they don't get DEC!
That would be fair.

My gosh, didn't know there are bots being used on Splinterlands. Tsk tsk.
Too many bots! I thought their number already declined since the day rewards are adjusted.
They are not bots. Just rent gods lol.
I agree with the point that they should have the CP to get the leaderboard DEC rewards though.
Relevant and the word you used, 'exploitation' is 100% spot on. I'm sharing this post on Splinterlands Digest Twitter and tagging a few community influencers who can elevate this problem and gain broader attention.
Give me the opportunity to tell the world about the horror that is happening in my country, then return to your downvotes
Whatever you want to say can be said. Downvote doesn't prevent that, never did. It removes the rewards.
You're partly right, I'd rather concentrate on promoting other users' posts. My posts with your dovnvoters won't get the attention they need.
