This is "old news" by now since I am writing this post on Friday knowing I'll be away most of Saturday. But it's an important update for my land game progress nonetheless!
Let's get to it.
I found my first totem fragment! Check it out:
What are totem fragments? The name says it all. They are pieces of totems. Have enough of them together, and you can "rebuild" a full totem.
Now, I am excited about finding my first fragment, not necessarily about its type, because I still have some full common totems yet to be used.
What would have blown me away, for sure, was to find a legendary or even epic totem fragment, since I don't have any legendary or epic totems. Bad luck during the presale bonus distribution, I guess...
The interesting fact about the totem fragments, reading the land expansion discord channel can often be confusing, as it is filled with people with various degrees of understanding of the game. So, if you find a piece of information from there, unless it's from an official team member, take it with a grain of salt and double-check.
At first, I harvested my resources quite often. Then I left them to accumulate for more than 24 hours. The chance to find a totem fragment grows in time. You can harvest every hour, but the only fragment I found so far was on one of the harvests after I let resources accumulate for a while. It may be how the chances played out, but that's how I am going to play it instead of claiming them as soon as possible.
Also yesterday (Friday), I put together enough DEC to unlock another plot, the 27th. By enough DEC I stopped aiming at 50k. A couple of grand would be enough to get things moving with some half-decent cards that I will probably update at a later time. But as long as the plot clears in a decent amount of time (max two weeks for me, but preferably sooner), I'll go for it. The more DEC I have, the sooner it'll clear because I can put better cards on them.
I currently have 24 worksites built and producing, the Keep, and 2 worksites under construction.
I also decided to put some better cards to work on one of my Research plots (for now), because I don't like this place in my region, lol:
A guy with "only" 42m CP, 2 full regions, and hundreds of plots in other regions is above me in this ranking, lol. EDIT: this is already old news, the gap grew between us, as probably expected.
Something else that I'll need to take care of soon is to become grain-sustainable because I am far from it at this point.
How are you doing at this point?

Still clueless about the mechanics of this land aspect of the game. I don't know if I am too lazy to read. I see Splinterlands as a game for fun, but it seems to me that with the addition of the land, I need to do some reading to catch up with the game.
As I said, I am one of the confused. 😆
Curious about how much $DEC you spent to build these 24 worksites.
What do you mean by "better cards"?
This makes the land aspect of the game like a virtual economic system.

Maybe you should. Land will have a 'land surfing' option which will allow non-land owners to use land that their owners don't (yet). Not enough details to tell you more about it.
I spent a serious amount of DEC on time crystals to instantly clear plots (I didn't have enough of them, apparently). But one could have done without TCs, it just takes (way) longer.
Other than that, I didn't pay any DEC. It is staked as Dark Energy on land, but I can unstake it, it's still mine, and can use it elsewhere if I decide to.
Better cards in terms of production points, the metric that determines how much you produce on a plot.
That's the type of game land is. A resource management game. And Land 1.5 is the easy part. It's on Land 2.0 where things become complicated, with dozens of resources and more complex gameplay.
Thanks! I just saw this morning on Discord the full list of all of the resources that will be part of phase 2.

Yep, without further explanations, it's not very helpful. Although we have some ideas what some of those resources will do.
Congrats on finding the fragment! I have only 4 plots and I didn't build a Research facility on any of them, maybe because I didn't check out how it works... 😂 I had so many things on the plate these last week or two that I didn't have time for Splinterlands at all...
Wish you luck in future research and to find those legendary fragments!!! 😃
Thanks, man! I can only imagine, that between the setting up of your Hive witness, and your Wednesday show on Discord, you barely find time for activities you are less focused on.
Congrats on the totem fragment. From the few updates I've seen in the SPL discord, no one has gotten a legendary fragment yet, and less than 10 have gotten an epic. Seeing how much DEC and CP/PP is needed to maximize a plot really shows how out of reach it is for a regular player like me. I'm just happy land is having a big effect on DEC and SPS prices. It seems the flywheel has started and SPS price is continuing its increase.
Jarvie did.
That's great for all of us and Splinterlands in general.
Oh wow, it happened faster than I anticipated.
I am close to finishing my first plot. I kept only 77, and sold all the common ones out of 2 plots.
You mean you are about to set up your first plot out of 77? If that's the case, you are taking your time, it seems.
yes, average is 25-30 days, but there is no DEC left for now to buy anything. something like this.
Damn, you have a Castle! :) Nice!!
Congrats! It's fun to see these updates on Hive and X/Twitter. I myself have decided to go "FOMO" and bought some SPS to hold on! Not the cheapest price but let's see what happens!
I guess it's still early enough on the way up... but, damn! Why didn't you buy it when it was way below $0.02? :)
Hehe it's hard to predict/time the markets! :P
I almost forgot about totems and I didn't realize that you could get those from land. I wonder if those totems will affect anything outside of land.
We'll see. But land itself has a huge influence on the rest, so their role on land is important enough.
Congratulations!
Have you considered using Time Crystals. I only have few Plots working and all them were prepared instantly with Time Crystals (bought during Survey).
I am currently focusing on SPS and Research Points. I have enough Grain for some time before I am forced to buy any.

I used all my TCs and bought more (worth hundreds of thousands of DEC). Used most of them. Still have a few, but won't use them unless I need to.
I am slowly building Grain, I go through my reserves like crazy. Only have my occupied plots on SPS, the rest are mostly on Research, which is my focus, besides Grain which I'm building now.
You have been very active then! There will be some very good returns for the investments you have made. I will be able to use my Plots more after my SPS Power Down is complete.

Yes, I was. But the DEC ran out quickly and now the development rhythm slowed down significantly.
I got some DEC in my hands yesterday after Powering Down SPS.
Nice! Use it well.

Exciting times! Now that land is the thing right now for Splinterlands
Yes, land is finally the hot thing on Splinterlands. It was about time after 3+ years, lol.
It seem like you’re doing well with the totem fragment
Congratulations to you and keep it up!
Thanks. Yeah, I'm not complaining, I have no reason to, lol.
i found a legendary fragment on 1 common farm first harvest extremely lucky after 24 hours only 2 plots 1 epic
Damn, that's really lucky! Congrats!
Many many congratulations to this great achievement.
Thanks. Not that great of an achievement, but it's ok.
Interesting to really learn and know about the totem fragrant
