You've inspired me to look into doing the same, expanding my renting game! I was quite adverse in dropping fiat into Splinterlands, but this could possibly be the way to go.

It annoys the fuck out of me. Praying on the weak-minded I say. I hope you are on @steevc's Brit List. He maintains it and updates it.
As for the cards, do some playing and renting. But if you rent, you don't have the CP for rankings. You can't have it both ways.
