Splinterlands: Thoughts On Staked SPS for Maximum Rewards

Hello, everyone, it's @Joetunex, and @Josediccus here again. In today's session, we talked about the latest splinterlands SPS requirement for maximum rewards.

In the video, we talked about the need to revamp SPS and give it a solid use case. We clarified that players will still need Collection Power to scale the leagues but then, would need staked SPS to get the maximum reward for the league they're playing in.

During the session, we did an estimation for a regular Gold leaguer like @josediccus and we found out that he might be needing in the region of 1.3k$ to buy some SPS to add to the one he had to get maximum reward. We both agreed that this change didn't come really well since players are now going to compromise on building their deck and having enough collection Power to prioritize SPS.

We feel that the financial constraint is too conflicting and challenging, especially for small players who are aiming to build collection Power while aiming to also earn in the process.

In the video, we talked about the difference in sentiment between different players, especially because big SPS owners will be back on this change. We approached this from a collective point of view.

At the end of the session, we agreed that this change could have been integrated in compartments to allow players enough time to build their SPS stash, we're hoping we sparked a reasonable argument on this one.

Excellent content friends. There are 2 things that worry me about this measure and that is that it leads to more aggressive forms of monetization by the company. The second is that the measure of completely replacing the CP by staked sps seems very drastic to me. The CP is what justifies a good part of the value of the cards as assets, now with this decision the price of the cards will simply be devalued.

From my understanding the SPS replacing CP doesn't benefit the Splinterlands company, it is a measure to create usecase for SPS with the hope of it impacting the price of SPS token which I think is a move that can have a positive price impact on the token but the approach is too drastic for the majority of the players to afford financially.

Cards still stand a chance to remain valuable, especially with Land where cards are needed for staking, we might end up needing more cards, especially for those that have lands and want to play the game competitively.

Overall I hope the SPS staking requirement is revisited to reasonably accommodate the player base.
We appreciate your input, many thanks for watching.

It probably make sense for people with probably 400k to 500k, massive money through rentals and all that.

CP is not totally being replaced, I think you'd still need it to scale up the ranks. But then, you'll now need the SPS to now gain maximum reward. The amount you need is just so crazy. I think what we talked about in the video could have been better. I think going forward, people might no longer value card ownership again.

If this upgrade of the system passes, I guess we all be playing in Bronze League.
What a blast, Zaku owners will be laughing all the way during the season.
It will be sad to see so many powerful cards limited by their presence in a lower league.
Peace

Yeah, I think judging by my 11k staked SPS I will be playing Silver for mar rewards.
Lol, we can still be Zaku in Silver but in Bronze might be tougher. I am waiting to hear the reaction from Splinterlands after the majority of the community isn't happy with the upcoming SPS staking for max reward in ranked battles.

Many thanks for watching and leaving your input.

Thank you very much
