Very interesting piece. It does not bear the mint mark, that many colonial Mexican coins have. The 8 reales was one of the most used coins during the Spanish Empire.

Yes, it bears the mint mark "Mo" for Mexico City.
It was used heavily especially for trade to the East.

Thank you for pointing it out. Now I notice the mint mark, it is quite worn. In the photo of the piece at auction, it is seen clearly. These mint marks are quite important in the Mexican numismatic.
