These standards are continually not called out and thus I think we have in some form allowed ourselves to become the weak societies we see today.

Not a terribly violent person to be honest.. But given little other option after exhausting the more civilized means of invoking chainge I'm not above it.

I appreciate your outlook and ethos sir. Are you in 'Roo land or?

You're right about the standards and weak society thing. People are also so reliant on others, have forgotten how to fend for themselves, do things for themselves. It's pretty sad really. I call them victims. People who don't have a seat belt cutter and glass breaker in their vehicles, a first aid kit and know how to use it, no fire-evac plan in the household, no go-bag, no situational awareness, no pocket knife on their belt...You know...No clue. Victims of happenstance.

Being prepared isn't all about spider holes and ten years worth of rice in the cellar.

The violence thing, yeah I prefer not to go that way but have done it in the past in various situations and circumstances. I hold to the belief that one should know how to, and know when not to. Not resorting to violence and still getting shit done is a strength.

Yeah Australia, born and bred, here.

Always found the Australians the weren't "broken" by the oppression you guys are under to be very similar in sentiment to myself and other canucks. I guess we're both commonwealthers and have the queen and her reptilian lazer beam tiddies on our money.. You guys have it fucking rough down there though with the draconian laws. :/

I think what you're mentioning there is a side effect of people being too comfortable and being programmed to believe that the governments will step in and save them when shit goes bad.. As we seemed to have learned when you guys got toasted there your government was powerless to really help the population when it came down too it.. Was fucking painful to watch your country burning down with all the houses, businesses and critters getting cooked. :(

I've got respect for the strong willed Australians like yourself mate. We need more guys like you down there with good heads on their shoulders to try and help along those down there that you refer to as victims.. I mean we can't save em all or radicalize them into actually taking up arms to make change unless they decide it for themselves.. But it's gonna be men like you that end up saving your country and hopefully in the new future defeating the immense amount of tyranny and oppression you guys face.

If there is anything I can do within my power to help you guys gear up or whatever for the upcoming global civil war clusterfuck, let me know. Might be on the exact opposite side of the world from me but I think we've got a decent amount in common in comparison to most.

Cheers man!

It's been a harsh land for us convicts and colonists and so we've had to be that way I guess, traditionally. In recent times though, not so hard. We're changing as a culture, many don't know what Aussie-grit means, ANZAC spirit or roll up your sleeves and pitch in. It sucks because it's those values and traditions I value most. Anyway, sign of the times I suppose.

Draconian laws yes, in many respects and certainly for firearms since Martin Bryant massacred 34 people down at Port Arthur. We have them though, guns, and some have a lot, you know? 😉

I'm a long range shooter primarily so am ok with bolt actions, but have hand guns and shotguns and all. We get by. I'd like a few AR's though.

The fires were tragic in 19/20, partly due to the government's insistance not to burn off undergrowth so as to save the environment. But we bounced back, as did the land. It's in our nature as you say. Some still haven't been paid out by insurance though. No government help. Scott Morrison has a roof over his head though. (The PM)

I guess like you folk, we have had to toughen up, colonists in frontier locations have always had to. Times change though and...Well, look at society now.

I appreciate your words. I'm...Well, I have my ideas I guess. I'm self-reliance-focused. Have skills. First aid, navigation, bushcraft, survival skills, hunting, killing and more. I do it for the feeling of confidence and self-respect I gain and I like to be prepared. It would be nice to see more do so...But they sit back and rely on the government...Or people like me. Sheeple, not me, them.

Tough times have always called for strong people with the right attitude and thw ability to stand up when knocked down. Not quit.

Ownership...Few have it but I'm proud to say I do.

Good chatting.
