Be careful with those polymer builds they definitely are not as durable as the aluminum version.
Accidentally needed to clear out room on my phone and just before I read this post I deleted all my ar15 build photos.
However it really isn't that difficult when you have a jig.
And if I were you I would poke around and see about ordering a jig as well as a couple extra 80% lowers.
Yep that's right with the idiot who is looking for a confirmation to being the bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms leader says that he is in favor of an assault weapons band and specifically banning AR-15s...
Openly prejudiced appointment. And an appointment to the worst Federal agency ever and also this individual is leading idiots that shot a pregnant woman at Ruby ridge and then murdered a huge amount of women and children during the entire Waco debacle.
It seems that the Democrats are ramping up all this idiotic behavior and if I would have bought a gun and put it away for every time this month they have made an absolutely moronic mistake I wouldn't have any place to sleep in my car....
Anyway puppy dog says hello hello.
He's a good boy! Real cute. :-)
I know about the polymer frames, these are polymer mixed with Kevlar fibers, so they should be fine.
I have aluminum myself, but these are supposed to last for 20,000 rounds vs 50,000 for the aluminium ones. I will never fire that many low power 556 rounds. They are mainly to piss off the liberals.
Thought you'd like this....
I got my wife home from the hospital today, so my dog is real happy.
I have a jig, and a full machine shop. It might be fun to cast one of these, just to see if I can.
♡♡♡♡♡
Actually I love that picture.
And in my experience I have had friends who have had polymer lowers fail in as little as 100 rounds.
The reinforced versions that they had to come up with because of these issues are way better.
However look up the long life AR-15s. There is a full auto machine gun rental in Las Vegas that has AR-15s that have been documented with million plus rounds.
AK-47s actually only can do 100,000 rounds before you shoot the barrel out.
And the difference is is the mayor 15 you just unscrew a barrel nut and replace the barrel a couple of screws a new bolt and the AR-15 can do another 100,000 rounds.
So....
Just go get a couple Anderson $50 AR-15 lowers and that wonderful jig as well as milling machine and you are making a much better investment with your time.....
Good job that your friend is getting into this however avoiding the polymer unless it's the polymer 80 Glocks.... Is definitely an advisable thing.
And we will see but I think that's going to sum up my adventure. And I'm getting an ambidextrous one in two or three months. So I'm super excited for that to happen.
These are the reinforced type, but mine are aluminum. My daily carry is polymer, and it has been flawless. Besides, I can't afford 50,000 rounds, LOL!
I don't care for full auto, it just wastes rounds. I am large enough to hold it on target, but it is still not accurate.
Agreed, but he will be investing tine, I will show him how, and leave him too it....
I bought the jig before it was popular, so it was inexpensive then. The mill is 7000 pounds, and 7 foot tall; and accurate!
I have helped several new builders assemble their toys, and have allowed one to cut his 80% on my equipment.
That said, to me, the AR -15 is underpowered and not good for much. If I relied on it, I'd go to an AR-10 in a 308.
I prefer an M-14....
Stay safe!

Actually I had the M1A socom2 and even with the shortened barrel. Oh my God that thing was heavy.
Put a scope on it and holy cow.
However the AR-10 system is phenomenal.
That Ruger of mine on paper is the bee's knees and we will see what happens when it gets delivered. If it shoots straight and if they fix the barrel.
The gas piston makes it a little bit heavier but base weight of 8.6 lb I believe...
However a lot of pansies say it's too heavy.
I'm really tickled that I got not only the 10 round magazine but also 20 and 25 round magazines for the SR.
And I need to complete a Rock River lar8 one of these days. Interesting design. Totally proprietary.
And one of these days I need to get more tools
The M1A1 suits me well, and I love the platform! I use the military peep sight with no scope, because my long range will be covered by a 300 win mag.
I wonder if the AR-10 frame can hold up to the 308 charge. I do like the longer case ability, but it is lighter than I like. If it were steel, it might be okay. Titanium would be ideal, but it is difficult to machine.
I am, sadly, a tool whore, LOL! I have one piece of test equipnent that originally sold for $75,000 that I use in my consulting business.
I made a pair of switchable electrodes in my shop that was 5 by 22 foot. Now that was fun...they were powder coated for calibrated electrode areas.
I'm adding investment casting to my metal pouring capability! It's never boring....
♡♡♡♡
Absolutely and you can shoot wonderful calibers like 338 Federal 6.5 creedmoor as well as 243...
Super versatile and I can't wait until they come out with a 40 caliber upper.
I enjoy my 6.5mm Swedish. I have harvested deer at over 450 yards with that round!
But I may build up some AR-10 stuff, but we are running out of time on 80% stuff. May be forced to scratch build....
My Son carries a 40, as a cleet guard at Tulsa University. My Daughter keeps one in her purse too, LOL! Nice size....
