As we build this new community, new ideas serve as its foundation. Here’s one which occurred to me as a potential booster of our focus on encouraging engagement with posts:
A Novel Method of Curation
The FreeCompliments community page will use its Hive Power to vote on every single comment and post that appears on the community, as well as mentions of the community and a #FreeCompliments tag on LeoFinance’s Threads feature (except for rule-breaking posts, i.e. illegal content). Comments and posts will be curated/voted based on subjective quality, but as long as it’s within the rules, it will absolutely get a vote from the page. While this community is young, I would likely be in charge of such curation. I understand that this will be subject to my personal biases, and it is an issue that I will address in the future.
Initially, the votes will be rather weak in value. As the FreeCompliments community grows larger, its vote will become stronger. From this point forward, I will personally have this page as a beneficiary to every post that I make in order to help it grow so that its voting power will increase. I will also institute certain strategies to help the community page grow in value over time; these strategies will be discussed in another post.
Thus far, I have not seen any page which curates/votes all content (posts, comments) that is posted to the blockchain, so this concept may be a novel way to bolster all types of engagement. Additionally, using a subjective method of curation/voting will encourage quality posts and comments. The subjective aspect may cause divisions in opinions, but there is an upcoming idea to help balance this out as well, and it will be addressed in another post.
Using Ecency Boosts on Posts that Add FC as a Beneficiary
A related idea which came to mind is using Ecency Boosts for content creators who add FreeCompliments as a beneficiary in their posts. The method by which FC will obtain Ecency points will be addressed in another post, but I believe that using Ecency Boosts can encourage content creators to help increase the FreeCompliment community account’s voting value, while simultaneously earning more on their posts due to the Ecency Boost. It can act as a two-way reward, known in human language as a “win-win” situation!
The only caveat: this idea will require the community account to earn enough Ecency points to handle all incoming posts. Right now, this is not an issue because we have very few posts, but may become an issue if engagement increases quicker than the community account’s value grows.

Your story, while I would rather it never happened to you and your community at all, validates why decentralised and censorship-resistant platforms are needed for a human internet.
Not for prejudicial or conspiratorial nonsense — often the lens through which "alternative" platforms are viewed — but freedom and genuine ownership.
Your tenacity to carry on and rebuild the project here on Hive is admirable and inspiring. Truly, well done. I see nothing but positivity in your work. Of course, that's the intention, but it's wonderful nonetheless.

So this is strange... I just tried sending Ecency points to the community account name you gave and, everything seemed okay, 'transaction succeeded', but the points obstinately remain in my wallet. Tried a couple more times, then tried sending to @freecompliments. Same result...

I actually had the same issue yesterday, and ending up forwarding the same amount to the community account twice; I decided to keep it there. It took several hours for the transactions to actually go through. Thus, whatever amount(s) you've sent multiple times I'll send right back to you.

Well, in that case, you'll get a free Boost whenever you post something on FC, even without listing FC as a beneficiary. I think that's a fair deal. 😊
Until we can build you up enough power to vote you are going to need to vote with some pretty large votes at first to be able to make good curation rewards.
I recommend you throw 100% votes on good comments.
You will definitely get into trouble if you vote on every single comment. However voting on really thoughtful comments? That's also going to encourage people and there needs to be limits to prevent against abuse.

You just said my mind, it will not be possible to vote on all the comments on hive blockchain. Voting on meaningful comment is good but is not guaranteed that all will get because sometimes voting power reduces which needs to be allowed to charge. In that case comment or post made that time may not recieve vote.

The earning plans will be a separate matter - curation rewards are second priority here, but yes, 100% votes would be reserved for quality comments and posts. That's exactly the plan!
I did consider the prospect of poorly written comments (which can be a subjective matter). I'd give those a minimum 1% vote in keeping with the concept.
Thanks also for suggesting the idea of abuse / spam. I can make a rule against spamming the same empty comment over and over, specifically in regards to receiving votes. Over time, I can also make a smaller voting account for the lower-quality comments/posts. That way, I can still keep the integrity of my promise while not compromising quality.

And actually curation rewards are really important. For you as well as good people that engage with the community. The more that you are rewarding those people more that we see large changes happen for both parties.
Actually that's a great point. By its own virtue, curation is meant to engage quality content.
I was specifically referring to the curation rewards that the FC community account would earn as a result of curation. I'm letting that take a backseat as a primary form of earning for the account, as I have other plans in mind! 😊 Post about that will be coming soon too.

Haha, I'll make a rule (specifically in regards to voting with the community account) against spammers + illegal content. I likely won't mute spammers, since that goes against my free speech principle. Illegal content would get muted because it's, well, illegal. That should alleviate a bunch of concerns!

Realised a couple of days back that an effective way to earn Ecency points is to delegate HIVE to the @ecency account. You get a daily point accrual in return. Kind of a catch-22 for new accounts, as you have to earn the HIVE first anyway, but there it is. Might make sense cost/benefit-wise overall, or not, who knows?
