"THE MAGIC OF A SMILE: WHY IT'S AWESOME"

One fateful morning, I received a call:
Me: Hello!
Principal: Is this Innocent Effiong?
Me: Yes, Ma'am.
Principal: According to your application, you are invited to an interview at Fellowship High School. Make sure to bring the original copies of your credentials.
Me: Thank you, Ma'am.
I dressed in one of my favourite outfits and gathered my credentials to head to the interview.
Upon arrival, I encountered a young man at the reception.
Me: Good morning, Sir. I'm here for an interview. Please take me to the principal's office.
I was escorted to the principal's office.
Me: standing, good morning, Ma'am (with a smile on my face).
Principal: Good morning. Please, have a seat. What is your name?
Me: My name is Innocent Nsikak Effiong.
She asked me a few questions, to which I provided answers. She also mentioned that I was highly recommended by a well-respected person known and loved by the school.
Principal: Why are you smiling? I appreciate people who are cheerful and always smiling. You are the right person for the job. Do you aspire to advance further than your current position?
Me: Yes, Ma'am! I am looking forward to furthering my education one to two years from now.
Principal: Congratulations, the job is yours. When do you plan to start?
Me: Please give me three days, I will start after three days.
Principal: Agreed.
We both burst into laughter.

#LESSON
Most of the time, having a stern face does not show seriousness but rather frustration and an inability to cope with life's challenges. No one would want to hire someone weary of life because an employer expects their employee to be able to solve problems and contribute to the growth of the establishment. You were created to take on responsibilities, solve problems, and add value. When you miss this fact, you become a frustrated and unhappy person wasting away every minute.

LEARN TO SMILE AT LIFE
Smiling indicates inner strength, hope, and courage. It reveals the person's heart, showing that you can do it, regardless of your size. It can open unexpected doors and is a language of its own that can break barriers.

Now I understand why the Bible says in Matthew 5:13
"You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men."

This verse conveys the message that you are the wisdom of the land, region, country, and wherever you find yourself on earth. However, if that wisdom becomes foolish, it loses its strength and becomes useless.

True wisdom demands simplicity in approaching life's circumstances. Don't try to carry the world on your shoulders; do what you can and trust in what God can do for you. Knowing this - if I can't, God can.

In the case of Abraham, when the Angel of God told him he would have a son in his old age, his wife didn't just smile but laughed. Hence, her son's name was "Isaac," meaning "Laughter." So, don't let your circumstances define you; let them be stepping stones to where God is taking you.

N/B
Approach life with simplicity. Do what you can and have faith in what God can do for you. Remember, if I can't, God can.
