Hello everyone!
Today I will talk about a friend who moved from an apartment to a house. As he has experienced several common moving issues. Nothing too big but still, I hope through sharing his story, I could help others who may move in the near future.
First a bit about the thumbnail picture, as said the friend lived in an apartment on the first floor, with 1 neighbor above and 1 neighbor below. The neighbor above had a cat which apparently sommetimes was watching my friend through the rails from the terrace upstairs. As it looked funny, I thought to take a picture of the cat. I didn't take pictures of my friend's apartment to respect his privacy.
How it started
Several months ago, my friend saw a particular house on a website which lists houses for sale. As he wasn't really looking but still keeping an eye on the trends, he decided to go and check out the house. As he thought it was fairly well priced, he decided to go for it and ended up being the highest bidder. Ofcourse that's just the stat of the story as he had to visit a bank to get a loan.
Probably you know how banks are, they all want to get their hands on your money like real sharks hunting for money. He visited a couple of banks of which he received several offers. Slowly he could leverage the information from one bank to another bank to get better prices.
Tip
Visit multiple banks when looking for a loan. Not just once, but go back afterwards when you had a better offer somewhere else. Often they will lower their prices. Their initial prices aren't their best ones!
After several weeks of negotiating, he decided he had a good offer and contacted the particular bank that he would like to work with them. After a couple of days, he received the papers which he had to sign. After reading these carefully, he had some remarks and figured out that not all the information was as agreed on the phone (in the disadvantage of my friend). After calling the bank, there was indeed been a mistake and the bank corrected it and sent the contract over once again.
Tip
Read every contract you have to sign carefully through! If you don't understand something, ask it to someone who understands such types of documents who you can trust.
My friend signed the contract, thus now he would become the owner of a house and he had secured financing to buy the house.
The move
The friend asked some friends of which I am one to help him move his furniture and other belongings. He didn't have that much but still, moving a bed, some dressings, a desk, tables, chairs and boxes takes some time. The move went rather quick so no problem there.
A new beginning
My friend figured out that the previous owners had taken away the doorbell (the type with video to see who rang the bell). He contacted the previous owners and they told him, it was broken and they had thus removed him. I am rather suspicious about this explanation as I think they just took it with them but we'll never know. Not worth it neither to take actions for a couple of 100 bucks.
Tip
Visit the house before you sign the final contract to be sure if there is any damage or other issues. This way it's possible to not send over all the money yet until certain things are fixed.
Conclusion
This was partially the reason my previous weeks were really busy as I've helped my friend several days / evenings, together with my own work ofcourse. I tried to write down some tips which seem useful for people buying a house, as most of us only will do it once in our lives!
Thanks for reading!

I was wondering why you declined rewards and saw that you plagiarised several articles. What a shame.. Are you still a curator for the @freecompliments community, I wonder..
Yes, he's still the curator for our Threads. It's a shame that it happened, but he acknowledged the error and we're giving him a second chance. It's my belief that all of us make mistakes in life (myself most certainly included), and as long as it's not some substantial crime, a second chance is warranted. Naturally, there will be people watching his actions on Hive for a long time.
I agree 100% that people should get a second chance and seeing the many post with decline payouts, I think there's already a punishment in place. I'm just worried about the bad look reflecting on the community when a curator who's supposed to curate/find plagiarised content normally is doing this.
But I'm sure these things already crossed your mind and you made this decision thinking it through. I'm glad you acknowledged it and want to make things right @stekene, I've always thought you are a very kind and positive person to interact with.
It's certainly something I've considered, and I do appreciate the thought! It's a principle that I'm willing to stand behind, even if it may not be universally popular. Do you think I should make a post about it in FC?
It's your community so your decision but I think it may do more bad than good for him building back up trust. As you mentioned, I'm pretty sure he's being watched closely already which is probably uncomfortable enough. But I'm not the one running a community and I don't know what other people feel about this either so follow your own instinct as you see best.
I believe some people have this plagiarising thing in their system by default and with those you know that even if they behave for a while, they probably fall back into bad behaviour at some point. It's also often easier to catch their intentions by reading their (often generated by AI) comments and not reading the content they reply on, trying to fish for rewards.
Then we have people like @stekene who I always found a very kind and positive person replying to content. I always felt it was genuine and the plagiarising doesn't seem like his default thing here. I'm not approving it btw, I think it's very wrong and it surprised me to find his actions. My point is that I feel he will not do it again and continue on his old path instead.
I guess time will tell though.. I hope you will anyway @stekene...
You do make some great points here. Certainly, a user's history is important. My prior post/comment curator had a slightly sketchy history which I initially attributed to being new to the blockchain. I defended him a few too many times. The new one is very trustworthy!
A users history definitely counts! Some people who get caught seem to have the same approach as others and then they find these connections with other people..
I remember talking to someone catching people that plagiarise and agreeing that it almost seems as if they get a handbook of how to make money by not putting in any effort here. As if there are courses they all follow because it was often so similar how they behave.
It's sad that you defended someone for a while, which doesn't look great for you personally, but you tried to see the good in someone, lol. I got tricked a few too many times in real life that I'm not that trusting by default :)
I've read the conversation and want to thank you. I know I shouldn't have plagiarized, it's bad. Don't have any excuses for doing so.
Still I want to thank you for the way you're talking. Although I've abused the platform, you can still talk in a respectful way, much appreciated from my side!
I know I'll have to prove myself as it's a slow process to gain trust but it could be gone in a blink. I can just blame myself for that, so yes, will work towards that!
Concerning the fc community, I know it could be harmful so I said I would totally understand it if he would prefer me to step down. I've had talks with @freecompliments and he decided to give me a second chance (which I am very grateful for!).
These are the best friends!
