I was wondering why you declined rewards and saw that you plagiarised several articles. What a shame.. Are you still a curator for the @freecompliments community, I wonder..

Yes, he's still the curator for our Threads. It's a shame that it happened, but he acknowledged the error and we're giving him a second chance. It's my belief that all of us make mistakes in life (myself most certainly included), and as long as it's not some substantial crime, a second chance is warranted. Naturally, there will be people watching his actions on Hive for a long time.
I agree 100% that people should get a second chance and seeing the many post with decline payouts, I think there's already a punishment in place. I'm just worried about the bad look reflecting on the community when a curator who's supposed to curate/find plagiarised content normally is doing this.
But I'm sure these things already crossed your mind and you made this decision thinking it through. I'm glad you acknowledged it and want to make things right @stekene, I've always thought you are a very kind and positive person to interact with.
It's certainly something I've considered, and I do appreciate the thought! It's a principle that I'm willing to stand behind, even if it may not be universally popular. Do you think I should make a post about it in FC?
It's your community so your decision but I think it may do more bad than good for him building back up trust. As you mentioned, I'm pretty sure he's being watched closely already which is probably uncomfortable enough. But I'm not the one running a community and I don't know what other people feel about this either so follow your own instinct as you see best.
I believe some people have this plagiarising thing in their system by default and with those you know that even if they behave for a while, they probably fall back into bad behaviour at some point. It's also often easier to catch their intentions by reading their (often generated by AI) comments and not reading the content they reply on, trying to fish for rewards.
Then we have people like @stekene who I always found a very kind and positive person replying to content. I always felt it was genuine and the plagiarising doesn't seem like his default thing here. I'm not approving it btw, I think it's very wrong and it surprised me to find his actions. My point is that I feel he will not do it again and continue on his old path instead.
I guess time will tell though.. I hope you will anyway @stekene...
You do make some great points here. Certainly, a user's history is important. My prior post/comment curator had a slightly sketchy history which I initially attributed to being new to the blockchain. I defended him a few too many times. The new one is very trustworthy!
A users history definitely counts! Some people who get caught seem to have the same approach as others and then they find these connections with other people..
I remember talking to someone catching people that plagiarise and agreeing that it almost seems as if they get a handbook of how to make money by not putting in any effort here. As if there are courses they all follow because it was often so similar how they behave.
It's sad that you defended someone for a while, which doesn't look great for you personally, but you tried to see the good in someone, lol. I got tricked a few too many times in real life that I'm not that trusting by default :)
I've also become very suspicious of people through my experiences! I trust nobody 100% - not even myself! Well, my closest family members get my full trust, that's all.
Nevertheless, I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and forgive when possible. I know I'd want to be treated the same way.
I've read the conversation and want to thank you. I know I shouldn't have plagiarized, it's bad. Don't have any excuses for doing so.
Still I want to thank you for the way you're talking. Although I've abused the platform, you can still talk in a respectful way, much appreciated from my side!
I know I'll have to prove myself as it's a slow process to gain trust but it could be gone in a blink. I can just blame myself for that, so yes, will work towards that!
Concerning the fc community, I know it could be harmful so I said I would totally understand it if he would prefer me to step down. I've had talks with @freecompliments and he decided to give me a second chance (which I am very grateful for!).
