Veilguard was dogshit! The only good thing about it was the combat. The story was horrible and they retconned everything we knew about the blight from Origins. Even making some retconns ( like how grey wardens are needed to kill the archdemon because their soul destroys the blighted soul of the archdemon) and not even explaining why the changes occured.
As far as woke messaging. It's not really all that bad. Every single mission in Taash's questline has her bitching and whining. You can't actually be "bad" in the game, with even some of the harsher dialogue options, like telling a character "Shut up, you idiot," being said as "Are you kidding me?"
I honestly hope we don't get another DA game after Veilguard.
Dude, why can't we have any evil options in RPGs these days? Fallout 4 suffered from the same type of dialogue, where you could accept, ask a question or accept it with a snarky attitude. So stupid.
I get that they want us to accept and play every single mission, but give us some options and choices that potentially branch out and open new missions/ characters and close off other ones, that's the whole point of replaying a game.
The fact that new media comes out and retcons the old stuff just begs the question, why not just create something new? We're at a point now where we're lacking new IPs, as beloved ones are destroyed to make way for new stories.
I was pretty pissed at the changes Veilguard made because the Dragon Age universe is one I am highly invested in, lore wise. I'm going to make a post about it tomorrow. One of the big mistakes I saw that Bioware did with VG is the exact same one they made with ME:A
