RE: Are Souls Games really as difficult as they say? // ¿Son los juegos souls realmente tan difíciles como se dice? (ENG/ESP)

From Software doesn't care about it being easy or hard. It cares about the games being fair. It's the reason why Dark Souls 2 wasn't received as well, even if I liked it, I must admit it was actually too hard at times.

Souls games are difficult, they're not unfair. You have to get better, it's where the "git gud" meme came from, which unfortunately has become really toxic in the Souls community now.
Still, these are games I love. As you said, they are jewels. And the thing is, at least for me, once I got good in one, I managed to pick my pace up in all of them. I know how they work, what to expect. It's like a different genre entirely, and it's something you just have to get used to.

I've played all Souls games so far and Sekiro. Can't play Bloodborne because no Playstation, but I'm saving up for Elden Ring, and I know that'll be an amazing experience, it looks absolutely incredible.

When I first started playing Souls games all the way back in 2017, I also thought they were unfair, but as I played more and more, and became stubborn, never giving up, my appreciation and love for what From Software does has only grown.
I understand the masses that want more accessibility and I would never be mad if From Software made the games have a difficulty slider for these people, but we all know this isn't going to happen. These games aren't made for everyone - it's just like music.

Most of my friends don't like classical music, I do. But I don't see them trying to insert guitars or vocals into Beethoven's works to make them more "accessible".
The difference between these two forms of art is just the news coverage and the communities surrounding them.
Music lovers are happy to listen to what they like and bother no one else. Me having my headphones on while I listen to the cannons of 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky roaring won't bother anyone else, but gaming is a lot more "capitalistic", there's a lot more of the consumerist mentality.
People see the shiny thing and they want it now.
And if the shiny thing isn't for them, then they demand it to be changed.

Souls is Souls, it's why I love it. It's difficult, but fair. It's challenging, but fun.

Totally agree, actually my post was a little bit criticizing how exaggerated that point of view is about From Software games, they are more difficult than an average game, but for example a good platformer game seems more difficult to me because it requires a lot of skill, not levels or stats. I love these people's games, they are amazing in everything, and those excellent games are not to blame for the exaggeration of the community, and I think that to some extent it's ok, because there is this myth of what a Souls game is.

Yes yes, I entirely understood your post and agree 100%

From Software doesn't just make games, they make works of art. And the difficulty is part of that beauty. I'm glad to find someone who agrees here.
