Diablo 4 — I lasted longer than I thought I would!

in Hive Gaming4 months ago

I began the latest Diablo 4 season with one goal: to finish the battle pass and get my goodies.

But...

Something strange happened.

I finished the battle pass, got all my goodies... and kept playing!

First of all, this magnificent beast and horse armour is the last reward of the battle pass. I think it looks rather snazzy, but alas, my little sorceress is a frosty ice wizard so she has no use for a fiery beast.

So I'm using a different mount. Regardless! the fiery thing is pretty spiffy and I'm happy to add it to my stable.

Also, since I'd been playing so much... my partner decided to join me! Hooray!

He was one of the people who was not too pleased with the game when it launched and was really on the fence about trying it again. But he decided to give it another shot thanks to my adventure, and turns out he's really enjoying it now too!

Turns out the game just needed a few seasons to cook. 😆

So!

For the past 8-9 days I've been playing more Diablo 4 than I thought I would be playing. I finished the battle pass, finished the seasonal storyline, and looked up some proper builds so I could smash out some endgame content for the first time.

In Diablo 4 there are several endgame activities to do that all help how you build your character.

There are the Nightmare Dungeons that, when finished, give you XP to level up your glyphs for your Paragon tree and there is The Pit where you farm up materials to masterwork your gear and make it as strong as can be.

There are several bosses to fight, and then you can summon them in their 'Tormented' mode for a real challenge. And basically that's the goal. To defeat all the Tormented bosses and Uber Lillith.

I suppose another goal is to place on the trial ladder.

Every week there is a new gauntlet to run. It's filled with various mobs, bosses, special shrines that bring everything you killed back to life and others that allow you to get double points for a short period of time. There are a couple of mobs who drop keys and treasure chests here and there.

You've got to strategise your moves. Kill as much as possible, bring them back to life, kill them again, kill the key-holders strategically and open as many chests as you can, all in an 8-minute window.

At the time of writing this, I need a score of at least 278,000 to get in the bottom of the top 1000 for the Solo Sorcerer ladder. xD My best score so far is 164,000. Alas.

I've been following an endgame Ice Shards builds from the Maxrolls build website, and I feel I've geared up to about mid-way.

I've got all the pieces required, though they don't have any/many greater affixes that could make them stupendous. And there are two mythic pieces that would be reeeeeally nice, but also incredibly rare. I've masterworked what I've got to level 8, I've maxed all my Paragon glyphs, I've capped my elemental resistances and also reached the required amount of armour to best physical damage.

The build basically relies on frost-nova'ing everything into oblivion. And shoot what doesn't insta-die with as many ice shards as possible. It's simple, but it works! In saying that though, it's not the strongest frost build this season, but I'm enjoying it.

My current game-play is farming up bits and pieces of boss-summoning materials so I can try my luck and hopefully find some mythic pieces. I did find a mythic ring!! But... it wasn't the mythic ring I wanted. It was a piece of junk I scrapped for it's mythic material instead. xD Sadly.

The mythics I would like to find are a Tyrael's chest piece which is pretty tanky and lets loose a bunch of divine magic every time I cast a skill.... .... ..... HAH! I cast about 10 skills a second! So, that'd be very nice. And a ring of Starless Skies which would negate any mana issues, ever. I could get new gear and re-temper things that don't favour mana and could get stuff that add MOAR POWAH to the build instead.

But it's highly unlikely I'll get those.

For the end is nigh.

World of Warcraft's new expansion is just days away and soon my attention will be focused on that for at least a few months. 😅 At least.

Until next time! 🔥😊😈

Nope... it's pay-to-play, that is: you need to buy it to play it. Then there's a cosmetic shop and seasonal battle pass for more cosmetics.
