If there's one thing that grinds my gears about current-day World of Warcraft, it's that you gain experience way too fast and there's no option available to halve the amount of experience you get so you can slow down a little.
I mean, it's great if you want to start a new character and get it to end-game as quick as possible... but, I don't. I want to start a new character and learn all of its abilities, slowly. Not jump 10 levels within an hour and get overwhelmed by all the new things.
It's for this reason I've never boosted a character, neither have I spec-changed a character I already have. I'm a pretty slow person who needs to level something right from the start and slowlyyyy learn and understand what I'm doing and what each ability does, and what each talent point will do for the abilities.
There are other people on the Blizzard forums, on Reddit, and on the MMORPG forums asking for an option to slow down the experience, so I'm not alone in this wish... but, of course, there is the influx of people who can't understand why we would want it to slow down, neither do they understand that what we're asking for is an option to do so. We're not demanding that everyone suffer with what we want; we merely want the option available.
"Go play Classic, then."
"You know there's an option to turn off XP gain, right?"
Neither responses are helpful.
There are a couple of constructive suggestions that would be amazing if the developers popped their heads into the threads. Suggestions such as a hardcore character, or "mythic" levelling. There could even be a cosmetic reward, mount or achievement at the end. Those playstyles are implemented in the private server: Ascension, so I don't see why it would be so difficult to implement in proper retail World of Warcraft.
Another idea could be an "anti-heirloom" that you can equip for stats that upgrade as you level, but it greatly lowers the experience gained as opposed to increasing the experience gained like they used to.
What brought on this complaint/rant? I'm trying to level a class I've only slightly dabbled in before (warlock) and I want to get the hang of it in the hopes I'll have something else to gear up alongside my warrior once the next Mythic season starts, but I feel as though the entire experience is rushed — I mean, I can literally be level 50 within a day — and it's overwhelming and I don't want to play a class I don't fully understand.
What I do understand now is why there are so many people out there who don't know the basics of their chosen class. I can only assume it's because of this ridiculous haste in levelling. I pity any brand new players to this game.
Until next time! ⚔️
That's what I hated about this and SWTOR. Being able to level too fast just takes the fun and challange out of the game. I remember in the early days of SWTOR where you need to do every mission on the planet, including the group missions to be around a level or two higher than the next planet!
These people just can't seem to grasp that not everything needs to be a rushed especially with WoW, I hate how the zones now don't have a min level!
Omg, yes, SWTOR. I looooved doing all the extra stuff to level up. Now you can be "mid-Tatooine level" by the time you finish Dromund Kaas/Coruscant. At least when I played it last. Might be worse now, haha!
It doesn't really bother me that enemies scale with you now and that you can level wherever you want, but slowww itttt dowwwnnnn. Just give me the option! Let the elitists have their max-levelled and max-geared character within a week if that's what they want, but let me choose to level the classic way without opting into Classic WoW. I want to keep my transmogs, my mounts, titles, do Mythic+ progression, etc. "Hurrrrrr, just play Classic." is not an option. 😅
I bet ya any amount of money those "just play classic" people just jumped on the WoW train in recent years!
Make char -> Power level -> Read Icy Veins guide -> Endgame.
That's how it be these days.
For me, reading gameplay and rotations doesn't really impart it properly. I need to actually see for myself how to do things. 😩
When I first read the title, I thought you were going to complain about not being able to level up haha. This is very interesting. Leveling up fast is a dream for some but a pain for you. I don't know how and when they will solve this problem, but I hope they solve it soon 😂😂.
Haha, nah, it's just sooooo fast, it's ridiculous.
It's not something they're ever going to change — they worked so hard on making the levelling experience take a mere day. But truly, a harder/slower option to choose to play (with an achievement or reward for doing so) would be amazing to combat this, anndddd it would give people something else to try too, not just people like me who want it slow. 😅
I never played this one, the most I ever played was Warcraft 3 with a friend. At the time I was about 8 years old, I didn't have a PC, I used one that I had at my grandmother's house, I remember my friend trying to download WoW on his PC, but in the end, he couldn't play, his PC couldn't run WoW and at that time the internet was very bad, it took two days of downloading a game that didn't run. 😅

Oh no 😅😅😅 that would've been soooo disappointing!
He couldn't believe he spent more than two days downloading WoW, he almost threw his PC out the window! 😂

The problem is that some players don't understand that in such a rush, the joy of the game is somewhat lost.
Nowadays, there are players who want to level up in a hurry, and that takes a lot of fun out of the game.
