Splinterlands Strategy Guide: Ruleset "Super Sneak"

in Hive Gaming3 years ago

Let's talk about the Ruleset "Super Sneak", in which all Melee Monsters have the Sneak ability, and how to win matches with this rule!

"Super Sneak" Ruleset

All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability.

In Super Sneak matches, all Melee Monsters have the Sneak ability and, thus, are able to attack the last Monster of the enemy team.

This means that the LAST position is now incredibly important, as your last Monster will be hit by all Melee Monsters of the enemy team. But remember that Ranged and Magic Monsters will behave normally in this Ruleset and will keep attacking your FIRST Monster. In order to win these matches, you'll have to build your team thinking that both your First and Last monsters will be possible targets!

Also, remember that Melee Monsters receive a very strong buff, and that Monsters that are usually not able to hit while in your backline are, now, able to hit every turn!

Basic Strategy #1: Lots of Melee Monsters

The most basic strategy is also the most obvious one: fitting lots of Melee Monsters in your team, as they'll all be able to attack the enemy backline.

image.pngimage.png

The Fire Splinter has lots of heavy-hitting Melee Monsters that become incredibly powerful on this Ruleset, like the Kobold Bruiser (Low Mana) and the Exploding Dwarf or Charlok Minotaur (High Mana). Also, the Fire Summoner Tarsa gives +1 Melee to all Monsters, making the Fire Splinter even stronger on Super Sneak.

image.png

But other Splinters also have interesting monsters like the Serpent of Eld and Sea Monster (Water), Venari Knifer (Forest), Chain Spinner (Life) and the Undead Rexx (Death): all these creatures are very efficient in terms of their Melee Damage and Mana Cost, and great to be played on Super Sneak Matches.

Basic Strategy #2: Summoners

The most obvious Summoners to use on matches with Super Sneak are the ones that gives Melee Attack to your own Monsters (as you'll be playing lots of Melee Monsters), or a debuff of Melee against the enemy team (as your opponent will also be playing lots of Melee Monsters).

image.png

Tarsa, Malric Inferno, Daria Dragonscale and Plado Emberstorm are the ones that give +1 Melee buff, while Zintar Mortalis, Camila Sungazer and Crypt Mancer are the ones that debuffs the enemy with -1 Melee.

image.png

Another very interesting idea is using Mylor Crowling, the Forest Summoner that gives all your Monsters the Thorns ability: each time a monster with Thorns is attacked by a Melee Monster, he gives back 2 damage. If the enemy goes full Melee Monsters, you're almost guaranteed to win with Mylor.

Basic Strategy #3: Demoralize Ability

Disintegrator, Warrior of Peace and Molten Ogre all have the Demoralize ability right at level 1, giving a -1 Melee debuff to all enemy monsters.

image.pngimage.png

Given the fact that players usually go heavy with Melee Monsters with this Ruleset, the Demoralize ability becomes almost overpowered!

If you want to go crazy on the Demoralize, you can play 2 Monsters with this ability at the same time, considering that the Disintegrator is a Neutral card that can be played together with Warrior of Peace (Life Splinter) or Molten Ogre (Fire Splinter). This almost guarantees that all enemy Melee monsters will have just 1 Melee Attack!

Basic Strategy #4: Backline Tank

Your Last Monster will become your main Tank, as he'll be attacked by several enemy Melee Monsters.

Because of that, you have to put strong Monsters in the last position, especially ones with useful abilities like Shield (halving incoming Melee damage), Retaliate (When hit with a Melee attack, Monsters with Retaliate have a chance of attacking their attacker) or even Thorns if you're not playing Mylor Crowling.

image.pngimage.png

The most popular tanks are also the ones recommended here: Venari Knifer, Chaos Knight, Antoid Platoon, Mycelic Infantry, Gloridax Soldier, Goblin Mech, Stone Golem, Frozen Soldier, Living Lava...

Basic Strategy #5: Weak Melee Monsters

One very smart strategy on Super Sneak matches is filling your team with cheap, weak Melee Monsters that don't have any special ability. Those Monsters usually can't attack while in the backlilne as they lack abilities to do so (Sneak, Opportunity, etc.), but on Super Sneak matches they can all attack the enemy backline!

image.pngimage.png

The list is huge: Cursed Slimeball, Flame Monkey, Carrion Shade, Mycelic Morphoid, Hardy Stonefish, Radiated Scorcher, Gargoya Scrapper, Ant Miners, Kobolg Bruiser, Hill Giant, Cruel Sethropod, Blinding Reflector...

image.pngimage.png

The 0 Mana Melee Monsters from Chaos Legion are INCREDIBLY powerful now: Soul Fiend, Corpse Fiend, Fungus Fiend, Torrent Fiend and Scorch Fiend. They literally cost nothing to be played, mana-wise, and can deal a lot of damage for free. If you can afford to buy these cards, your win rate will SKYROCKET on Super Sneak Matches.

Another good strategy is to go against the tide and pick a mage team, since most people go for heavy melee. Anyway, good post 😃

The classic switcheroo: playing exactly the opposite in order to counter the meta play :P

It's, indeed, a good strategy: play a heavy tank as your last monster, and go full on Magic Monsters.

You forgot about about Exploding Rats - One of my favorite monster when utilizing this ruleset (also melee mayhem and equal opportunity).

I encounter a lot of accounts utilizing this ruleset.

For me on the other hand, I rarely utilize this ruleset and go mostly magic or ranged.
My recent post here is an example of it.

Anyway, here's a slice of !PIZZA. :)

Damnit, you're correct! I too love to use Exploding Rats, especially on low-mana matches, but forgot to put him on the list :(

Thanks for your support, and !PIZZA for you too!

Great post! !PIZZA

!PIZZA for you too, my friend!!
