Sc2 (and 1) were such brilliant games... Been a while since I played but back when I was going hard several years ago I managed to eek out Gold level play, and I think for all of like a week was ranked diamond. Good times. I'm sure these days those skills are gone but you've got me wanting to boot it up and try none the less. What a cool event to go to!

I only ever had a pirate version of the game until they went free to play and then was able to play ranked. I wasn't really a fan of that because while I enjoy competitive play with friends or family, the pickup games can be quite toxic as is most online competitive play.
What was your favorite race to play as? I enjoy Zerg because they are evil, but honestly, it is probably the most difficult to control because you have to have so many units to win with them.
Terran for sure! It had the right balance of units to power for me, and with clever play you could hold your own against both Zerg and Protoss just by knowing the strengths of those races and playing against them. Some of that was luck as you'd have to also anticipate the players mentality too: are they going to early dragoon? Will the Zerg do an early harras with harvesters? It could go wrong easily with Terran but was extremely satisfying when you read the situation correctly and could counter.
I feel like the early ability to have bunkers made almost any base much more of a threat with the terrans, having that sort of unit that could actually move if it needed to was something the others couldn't possibly do. Although I will say that not needing to dedicate a unit (SCV) to building a structure with the protoss and zerg was kind of a nice touch though.
Absolutely, it was a nice option... And the scv requirement was an alright balance to ensure it wasn't overpowering
