The startup was one thing but the ever impending fear of the PlayStation going to that menu screen if it didn’t manage to read the disc is what I remember the most. Absolutely horrible.

Something similar to what we did with the N64, we would take the cartridge out, blow on it a couple of times, plug it in and it would boot up, with cds I used to take them out and give them a quick wipe with the shirt, but that ruined them too over time.
How good it is now to handle everything digitally, more practical and our games are not ruined.
