The third level of DOOM also means the third episode of DOOM. This level was pretty cool. It's all about killing the demon hordes to reduce the threat level of the area. I wasn't sure how to go forward with this in the beginning but ultimately I decided that ripping & tearing would be the right way to do it.
This level also unlocks a new mechanic called Combat Rating. You'll see these five symbols appear in the upper right of the screen. As we kill enemies these start to fill up. For every one of these we fill up we get an weapon upgrade point. We need to kill every enemy on the map to get all five. I like this as it rewards us for being thorough when going through the map. Now I don't only want to explore to find all the the items and upgrade modules but also to rip through every last enemy.
Having learned something from the last episode I was a lot more thorough when going through this level. I ended up finding all of the upgrade items for the suit and weapons but there were some secrets I didn't find. There was actually a whole area I didn't manage to find my way into, but after reviewing the video before uploading it I actually saw the entrance to it on the map. What a bummer.

A real massacre, I remember playing the early version of this game and thinking how crazy it was to relive DOOM in those years, but seeing the game now I really want to play it and scream while playing it.
Screaming is good and all but don't forget to rip & tear! I didn't play the old ones in their hay days so they didn't really hit me that hard when I played them 15 years late. This one is though!

I'm having so much fun with this I might have to go straight to Eternal afterwards. Especially after seeing the footage you've been putting out. I should probably try and explore a little more like you say. It is a little immersion breaking to pull up the map all the time.
