I've used Audacity a lot for recording and editing stuff like podcasts. It's a good editor. If I'm doing more complex audio stuff I use Ardour that is more like Protools. I am not so into video. I have looked at using OBS, but not had much success so far. I need to try it again. I use Linux on my PC, so the options can be more limited.

I have to admit, I’ve never used Linux myself.
Ardour sounds intriguing, I’m gonna have to do some research.
If you aren’t interested in doing video then OBS probably isn’t worthwhile using. If you do ever decide you want to though, I definitely recommend!
I do make basic videos of me playing music. It could be good for mixing in backing tracks. The Linux tools are generally pretty good and it's easier to use these days.
I consider Audacity to be mainly an audio editor with some recording capability. Ardour is a full multitrack system with real time effects. It can do far more than I need really, but as it's free to use I get the benefits. I do actually pay them something anyway. I wish some open source projects were on Hive so I could support them with votes.
Have fun with your videos.
