Taking Care Of My Garden Once Again.

in HiveGarden2 years ago

Hello to all gardeners out there and to all hivers ofcourse. How's your day so far? I hope you're doing well.

It's been cloudy for three days straight now since the typhoon passed to our country. It brought wind and rain which we most need now. As you know we're not able to do farming this time of the year due to lack of water in our irrigation. It's not that completely gone but the water is not enough to supply the vast area of rice fields here.

So instead of waiting for the water to come for us to cultivate our rice fields, my grandmother decided to plant vegetable for the meantime.
My grandma planted string beans last week on the embankment near to our house.

I visited her string beans and found out that they already grown. In their state, they need poles already to climb on when their shoots will start to develop.

On this day also I decided to gather the poles to be use. My grandma suggested to me to use the poles that I used when I planted my string beans before.

Together with them we go to the location and gather the poles. I'm hesitant at first since those poles are already old but surprisingly when I remove them from their place, they're still sturdy as new.

With that it's settled that these poles will be the one to be use.

The only problem is that it's not enough to cater all the string beans. So we get the remaining poles using the bamboo that's been burned down from the area.

My grandma volunteered to do the task and she's happy about it as you can see from the photo but the task ends up to me since the bolo is not that sharp hihi. So you need to apply force to cut something.
I finished the task and decided to go home already.

On our way home a flower caught my attention and took a photo of it.

As you can see our rice field are now full of grass and it's just pleasing to the eyes to see this kind of greenery.
That's my dog by the way, looking at something.

Another one that caught my attention was the heart of the banana that's waiting to be harvested. I told it to my grandma and she said that it's already good to get.

My grandma was the one who did the task and since it's been a long time when she went to the field, she's very happy.

As you can see from the photo, she used the pole that we got and when she got it, the smile on her face is just priceless. Mission completed.

After that we decided to go home already so that I can put the poles already to the string beans.

And that's me putting the poles immediately because I can tell that the rain will fall in any moment that time.

Ofcourse my dog was with me all the time and as you can see from the photo, Boy is about to jump and it's such a timing that it was captured hihi.

After I put the poles I just sat down and my dog sat also. What a loyal dog. Wherever I am, he's also there beside me.
So lucky to have him and my other pets really.

That's all for today and I hope that our string beans will grow well and will bear many soon.
Before I end this one, I just want to say that let's learn to grow our own food no matter what.

Thank you for reading.🌱

I love your capture of the dog! You really make your place come alive with your words and photos. Love your work!

Do you eat the banana flower? How is it prepared?

The things that I do here is the perk of living here in the province. Hihi.

Yeah we cook and eat it.
The first thing we do is to gather all the parts that are edible. It's flowers that didn't develop into a fruit is edible together with the heart inside.
We boiled it until it's cook and add seasonings and ingredients. That's one way on how we prepare it. The other one is we cook it in soy sauce, add pepper and a little bit of vinegar and it's done. We also add it to some dishes here like the "dinengdeng" in iloko. Which composed of different vegetables that are compatible together with it.

Nice to know you take part in taking care of your farm, it will help you have a nice produce.

I really enjoys it together with my pets going to farm. .
It really helps us to have food to harvest and a lessen our expenses.
