Yes, Alberta - lots of farmland around me, but a very extreme climate... 30C in the summer, and -40C in the winter. Only very hardy plants will thrive here. We've been here a little less than 2 years, and before that, we were in Victoria for a decade - the warmest place in Canada, very temperate... we miss it very much!

Yes, it is in BC. At the very southern tip of Vancouver Island, off the west coast. The rest of the island is quite rainy much of the year but Victoria is in the "sunshine pocket" because of the way the weather moves around the mountains. It's quite a lovely place to be, if you can afford to live there. 😅
yeh. a friend was working with the Orcas around there. not sure now if he actually lived in Victoria, but it does ring a bell.
