That Little Space I called Life

in HiveGarden2 years ago

Hello, wonderful friends in this awesome community. How are you today? I hope you are all doing great and healthy as always.

Summer is coming. The sun is heating so hard in our place. It only means that we are almost in the middle of the year. Yeeyy and everybody seems so excited for the coming weeks to come for the Easter week is starting, and we have holidays here in our country.

Before we will have that breaks and holidays, let me show you my cute little space in our school as my garden area.

Our school is not that big enough but we are making use of the little space to grow greens and vegetables around. With the effort and determination of our school principal, he finally made an extravagant garden space for the whole campus.

Each teaching and non-teaching staff were assigned to one area. That area will become our permanent location to grow and maintain our healthy vegetable garden.

This is the concrete garden design that our school principal carefully planned and made into realization.

After making the garden design, we are now tasked to fill in with soil so that we will be able to start planting our mini spaces in the garden.

It was around January 2023 when we fill in the space assigned to us. From my old garden space, we help each other together with my advisory class to get the soil and transfer it to the new space assigned to us.

With the help of my advisory class, they are very eager to fill in with soil. After filling in with soil, we mixed it with animal manure and dry leaves so that the vegetables to be planted will surely be healthy.

Yes, it's tiring but what motivates us to finish our task is, that the present space would be better than our previous one and would give us a better opportunity somehow.

In February 2023, we started to plant varied plants in our little space. The vegetables we planted in our garden are eggplants, lady fingers, and tomatoes. With the help of my advisory class, we made it right in time before summer comes to plant healthy vegetables in our garden.

After planting, we put a cover on each vegetable plant with the use of a banana trunk until the seedlings will harden and they can survive during the sunny and rainy days to come.

With the learnings from my previous co-teacher, seedlings should be well taken care of. So every day, we visited the garden before the class starts to water the plants, check the situation and growth of each plant, and pull out the weeds growing near our plants.

Our plants are now growing and becoming healthy

We put a plastic bottle in every plant's root. The bottled water will serve as storage of water so that we will conserve the water in our school for we don't have enough water supply.

This routine will make my soul happy. As I mentioned before, gardening makes me alive. Visiting the plants every day will make me energized.

So now, by the end of March 2023, I'm very much happy because we are now harvesting the fruits of our labor. Our garden is making flowers and bears fruits already. I am very much grateful to all my students who made an extra effort to make our little garden a beautiful and healthy one.

That little space assigned to us means life. If you work hard with determination and perseverance, what you're working for will goes back to you no matter what it takes. It's like an investment.

Watering the Plants

Harvest Time

Indeed, it was all worth it. We should teach and inspire our learners on how to value sustainability in life. Success in life doesn't need to be in an office or anywhere but also we can be successful through farming.

Nowadays, I think youths are more into gadget addiction and somehow focus their lives on it. As a teacher, I want to give them the life that they may also venture and that is through planting, where they can use that lifelong skills when they grow up in the future.

Have a great day!

Oh my GODDESS, I can't tell you how much I love this post and hope you get some good rewards for it. In my mind this is what education is all about. Your principal is a LEGEND to support this and I love how each teacher has a plot to tend. I think the proof is in the students faces who clearly enjoy it too. Really think this is magical. WEll done - I feel so inpsired and hopeful reading this. Thankyou ever so much for sharing. Truly.

Oh im so overwhelmed by your comment💕. Thank you so much for being so appreciative. Indeed the faces of the learners shows how happy they are and that is so rewarding on my part as a teacher.

I miss our Elementary days, we have our green yard where we have a lot of plants. It's just amazing looking at you guys doing some gardening.

Thank you so much. Yes, I also had the same experience with gardening during my elementary days. It's a wonderful experience that up to this days I can still vividly remember it..

Indeed, I remember our harvest days and it felt so amazing.

Agree... This initiative inspires students and surely they learned some life lessons. If we know how to take care od our garden, will never get hungry.

Exactly, we will never be hungry if we plant more and take care of our garden..

Well cultivated garden, it makes me remember my high school garden.

Thank you so much for appreciating my post. 😊

I'm sure your vegetables are really healthy there, ma'am, it looks like the soil you used is as fertile. And as for care, I know the students are active and they will really help you. Great job in your garden, ma'am, the crops will seem to grow well despite the heat we are experiencing right now.

Thank you maam! Yes i am very grateful for my students that they enjoyed while helping. Indeed maam the crops will grow despite the heat if it's well taken cared of.

Thank you so much for appreciating my post. Training them while they are young will also help them in their future. 😊

This is the type of education that kids should get. Your principal is absolutely wonderful; if there were more of “him” around the world would be a better place, kids would be happy and actually want to go to school. Fantastic! ❤️💕❤️💕❤️🤗🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗💕💕💕❤️❤️👍👍💕😊😊😊😊🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿

Thank you so much for appreciating my post. Yes, I agree with you. Our principal is one of a kind in a way that he is thinking of the bigger picture to develop the student's skills and abilities not only academically.
