I really love all of the plants growing outside on the deck, we have basil, sage, cactus and a few other things. Also recently we put in a hummingbird feeder, and wow the amount of attention it got was crazy. Though now the season is ending and they have migrated, but other things are now feeding on the hummingbird feeder. Such a butterflies, wasps and yellow jackets..lol
Soon I will pack it up and save for near spring when the little birds return, but now it is starting to get too cold for them up north where I live so they migrate down south during the winter.
It is really cool to see them visit the feeders, they are mostly empty now the hummingbird season is over but they still find some tasty morsels inside.
We have so many butterflies its great, they visit the wild flowers growing from the seed I put out a year ago.
The basil plants just keep coming back, we trim them and within a week or two there are all new leaves to pick.
Wasps walk around, probably looking for little insects to eat. They go on the plants and seemingly hunt for things.
They seem busy doing their own thing and do not mind me near.
Flowers are forming on the basil but still not seeded yet so we can use them.
The lemon basil is doing well too, soon it will be too cold for it though so we will enjoy them while they last.
The sage is growing as well, we use it in dishes we make.
Looks like that basil on the left is flowering as well, they tend to do that at the end of the season.
Oregano is growing in this pot, mostly sprawling across the surface.
Though one stalk is growing upwards.
Once the hard freezes show up all of them will die back and not much will happen until next year.
Amazing how big this one got, its bark almost looks tree like.
During a tropical storm it got blown over, so its had this weird shape every since.. Still alive and growing though.
The cactus are doing great, they should be fine though winter but will go into dormancy.
Looks like the wasps and yellow jackets found the feeder.
Shortly after I clean it all out and put it away for storage. Its funny to see the insects going for it but I its not meant for them..lol
A hawk is also hanging out near the deck, not the best picture though. My macro lens is not really designed for long shots.
Its looking around waiting for something to move.
Looks like it spotted something. Wish I could have focused better on it.
And it dives down and goes after whatever it saw.
It is great having all these plants, and the nature surrounding them. Every day is like walking into a nature documentary and I love it here.
Beautiful! My wife and I love sitting out on our deck, but we don't do it quite enough. It sits on the West side of the house, so in the evening it get really hot. When we had the deck redone we should have had them put a canopy over it. Plus we are gone a lot in the Summer. I need to start clearing it off this weekend.
It sure is nice, having a deck is the way to go. Yeah those sunsets can be quite toasty. Maybe one of those retractable awnings would work.
Hah I will need to clean off mine when all the plants die out there, soon that will happen.
I was looking at those sunsetter style awnings. They definitely have some benefits. I'm just not sure where they would mount it. Maybe I need to have a contractor come out sometime just to get me a quote.
Your yard is really a beehive of activities and sitting out there, just watching Nature, would be an ostentatious life for me, I really would love that!
The hawk really spotted good food. 😁 The insect was so happy for the morsels.😅
Hehe they sure did.
😁😁 You need to be consistent on putting it.😅
I'm glad you've included a hummingbird feeder on your terrace and it's giving good results. It's great to see the insects there.
Your plants look beautiful, Mr. @solominer
It is pretty cool.. thank you
Hawk waiting for Hummingbird? :O
Hah I hope not, would think they want a bigger meal.
Might be.
Stay safe :D

hah there ya go.
Now I understand what you meant by porch life! :)
It seems your porch is becoming a hub of activity with all the creatures and animals roaming around.
By the way, I’m quite amazed by that hawk; I’ve never seen one in person except in documentary videos.
Yep, its when I want to be out in nature but still close to home. Lets me see just enough to enjoy my time there but no walking back home..lol
Oh wow, they are quite common where I live. We have lots of forest here for them to thrive in.
That’s great. That’s the kind of lifestyle that I look forward to during my retirement days 😊
Citylife is nice but it can be exhausting too.
Good evening my brother ♥️
You have some plants in your environment and they are very good, besides being useful for us, they are also useful for insects or other animals, and that is really amazing, but what makes me laugh is seeing wasps approaching the bird feeder even though it is not for them lol
Hah yeah it is quite funny the insects are feeding on the humming bird feeder. Honestly did not think about that much when I bought it.
And it's a very useful tool indeed♥️
I love hawks we have a lot in here and see them quite often in action! Big and smart bird. I think the basil are very ready to be trimmed lol
They are indeed a lot of fun to watch. I see one circling over the grassy areas of my property. When they see prey they do a corkscrew dive to catch what they are after.
Hehe yeah we did after those pictures.. now its mostly stems.
Fantastic to see all the herbs! Mine are still little. Also thanks for the reminder - have to plant some tulsi!!!
Thanks.. Ah well hope yours get big and strong.
tulsi.. I need to grow some of that next year.
Isn't it nice to live in a place you love? I love my little hideaway.
You could take your herbs inside when it freezes and set them back out on warmer days. This way you could have fresh herbs in the winter.
My sister-in-law has a hummingbird feeder and the bees swarm it.
That chicken hawk probably saw a rat, rabbit, or squirrel. I hope it was not a rabbit.
Sure am, I really love my home.
We would need to find a spot for them, so we shall see. Maybe we will bring in one of them.
Hah yeah I bet, I heard that does happen.
Who knows, could have been.. we got lots of rabbits too.
Aww cute bunny, is that your pet?
Yes, he is a wild rabbit but now a pet. One of my dogs got him when he still had his eyes closed, I bottle fed him and now I am the only one who can pet him. I grow veggies just for him, he loves sweet potato vine.
What stole the attention was one of the eagles standing quietly near the deck, I think this eagle was monitoring something around the deck.
Bdw. Some types of plants seem to be growing flourishing, my friend.
Hehe me too it is watching.
Yep, some are but winter will be here soon.
!LOL

Looks like you have a reason to buy a new camera..
The camera is great, I just need a telescopic lens.
All of my lens are for macro or medium distance.. so its time to buy a telescopic lens. Its only a few thousand dollars.. no worries :-P
I remember paying $1200 for a lens for the girlfriend daughter.. I was so shocked.. until she showed me some of the other ones.. I got off cheap.
I have been planning to have a bird feeder for sometime now because of my love for birds. When I was younger, I had a cage that acted as a trap. As they are attracted by the corn, they get trapped in the cage, and then I let them all out again. It was really fun, and I love that pastime of yours.
