Hi, I am Arveno and i am from Surabaya city Indonesia. I want to make content about plant that really famous for aquascaper in the world lately. Maybe this plant started famous at 2020-2021. This plant actually hybrid plant that can live in humid area near riverbank and without soil or planted, this plant root will seek water by itself either using rock or wood. Usually this plant leaf are outside water and the root is always wet. But, sometimes this plant can live underwater too. Thats why this plant called hybrid plant. Like a toad that can live both on land and water.
Okay, i never told you about myself in the past. Before i am in Crypto, i am aquascaper. Yeah, i am scaping and design on Aquarium to be a good environment.

Yeah i am writing this content because i am really missing doing this hobby. Soon, after i have my own home. I promise i will having my own aquarium in my house. This design is really make me calm especially at night. Just looking the scape and seeing the fish and caridinia shrimp back and forth is really relaxing. So, yeah i need to learn about many plants that can live underwater. There are some species that actually aquatic plant. But, some of them is kinda different plant that we usually know. And in this content i share about Buchepalandra. If you notice, in the second picture, i using all Buchepalandra as my plant. So, this based on what i learned and experienced and if i am giving wrong information or not updated (Since the last i am doing aquascaping is 2018) maybe i am not updating the info.
Buchepalandra is new plant that founded around 2015. This plant inadvertent planted by some aquarist while searching some anubias SP in nature. Yeah Anubias can be founded on Wild rainforest near waterfall or riverbank on Kalimantan. I dont know who bring anubias that can live on Indonesia since as far as i know Anubias is from Africa. And when searching Anubias and other aquatic plant, they encountered with plant that living underwater and outside water and clumping. This plant can make long rhizome and gathered around to make a mini clump or even big clump.
And then i dont know what happened. And boom in 2017 many Indonesia Aquascaper starting to asking about this plant and panic buy like this plant is gold. I got great hunter at that time, and i can exporting to neighbour country such as Thailand,Vietnam,Singapore,Malaysia at that time. But, not long after this plant famous in my country then many scammer and fraud comming and robbing as much as they can and destroying my country name. Until i stopped playing aquascape i still hear that the scammer still out there trying scamming people from another country.
Yeah lets talk about the other.
Buchepalandra have many species, from Skeleton King, or ghostly buchepalandra, or sekadau Buchepalandra. Mostly they just giving name from the place origin. And this plant species is not registered. And the bad news is the goverment seems not care about this species at all. Thats why many exploiter still there.
This plant is easy to take care. Since the origin in Kalimantan this plant need warm water and having current. Then the light is not too high just shadowing like in their habitat just got shadow for sun light since there are so many big tree around.
And for Carbondioxide this plant is not consume much of CO2. Mostly same with Anubias SP, for reproduce, this plant can multiply by cutting the rhizome, the rhizome will branching and making new clump. And for the fertilizer. For just living this plant just need mineral from water. And do not give so much fert. It will harm this plant. If you want to make this plant super healthy and having colourfull leaf, you just need injecting liquid fertilizer periodically with small amount. Or using my way, i usually will saturate the rock or wood for buchepalandra in fertilizer water for 24-48 hours. It will make the fert absorbed perfectly by the rock or the wood. And after several week, the buchepalandra root will seeking food from that place.
For manipulate the coulour of the leaf, you can adding red light and more blue light on your lamp. Plus dont using white colour lamp, use Bright Yellow to make Buchepalandra growth hormone release and it will make them branching more and will be clumped.
If you are buying or having this plant only just one rhizome with 3-4 leaf. It took around 6-8 month to make this plant grow perfectly, if you get or buy this plant with clumping, it will be easier to adapt and can growing a lot on just 3-4 months.
So, yeah this is my little bit knowledge about Buchepalandra SP. Actually i really missing doing Aquascaping right now. I still cannot do it since i am still renting house. It will be burden if i need to move out. It need to diassamble all the scaping and need to build from scratch again. But, yeah after i buy my own house i will started to scaping. I really missing to scaping the rock, the wood,and planting, and seeing them grow over time is really relaxing.
