Is Democracy the Ideal System for Indonesia?

There is a feeling of worry that crosses my mind and heart about something that is happening in Indonesia this year. I really don't understand why this is happening so crucially in the country where I live. Many times I feel like moving countries, but remembering that I really like Indonesian food and my limitations in learning the language make me have to be self-aware of cultivating my desire to move citizenship.

This finger after the election

You know, one of the things that makes it very difficult for me to live in Indonesia is its very bad government system. Oligarchy makes the boundaries between the rich and the poor very clear. A very complicated bureaucratic system. Stupidity occurs because of the bad education system. The most terrible thing is that many citizens do not understand the government system which makes everything even more chaotic.

I got a very bad comment lately. Of course because I really like discussing politics on social media platforms, but it turns out that it makes me very worried about many things in Indonesia. Especially from the stupidity that is so obvious, many people are getting stupid because the poor are getting poorer and can't make ends meet, especially unemployment which is getting worse due to many bankrupt companies and failed investments from outsiders. The more people starve, how can other people think about their education? While their stomachs are not even provided with good nutrition.

Stupidity is maintained by the state. The more stupid and hungry people are, the more it can be used for every vote in 5 years per election. Stupidity is a good start for the rulers to get votes, because of course the more stupid someone is, the easier it is to insert suggestions. Every vote to vote in the election can be paid for with only 10 dollars for each person. Of course, only the poor get it. Everyone wants money to continue their lives.

Today it happened again, the election for regional heads as Governor and Mayor. Of course, I don't really like them. But I realize that choosing a leader is not because he is good or bad, but choosing the best of the worst. I decided to come to the election and get black ink on my little finger even though the rain today caused flooding throughout the area where I live.

I feel that democracy is not a good thing for Indonesia. It seems like everything has been designed by the authorities to get what they want, so this system of government is not suitable for this country. just my personal opinion, but you can refute it.

I think a democratic system is only needed by developed countries, whose people have reached a good level of education. In fact, there are millions of Indonesians who still can't read and write. It doesn't seem right. What do you think?

See you the next time hive friends!

I understand what you mean. Uneducated people are the enemie of democracy. On the other side the problem with other systems is that people cannot get rid of them anymore, even after their education level has already increased.

My idea was always a democracy based on weighted votes (similar like HIVE where the voting power is based on the amount of staked HIVE). Whereas I don't especially like the HIVE system were money matters more than knowledge and skills, I would appreciate a voting system based on knowledge: depending on the topic, people with more proven knowledge in a certain area would have stronger votes than people with less knowledge.
For example a nurse would have a higher voting weight than me in topics related to the health system, a policeman would have a high weight when it was about any security issue etc.
That would mean people wouldn't vote for parties but for or against projects ...

I wrote more about it here (chapter "5. KI und Politik"), but unfortunately, that was published in German language only.

in my opinion, democracy should be like that. the only problem is the low level of education makes everyone not think and prioritize getting money without thinking about important things for the future.
