Sounds similar to grubs, they are eaten in the countryside of Cambodia. The biggest problem for western food in Cambodia is that 90% of SE Asians are lactose intolerant, and I guess perhaps 95% or higher in Cambodia.
I try to warn Cambodians about consuming dairy, but they won't take my advice because I'm vegan, and they think first it's dairy, then I'll tell them to stop eating meat, etc. A non-vegetarian would be better at convincing Cambodians, haha.
