That's really beautiful. I think this is one of the only things that I regret about living up in the mountains, I never get to see stuff like this but I suppose it is just a 1 hour flight away
Yes and now with direct flights from CNX to Phuket (2 hours) it's pretty easy to come down for a weekend of diving. The reefs of Phi Phi have had 2 years of very little tourism so there is a definite increase in fish numbers! Come on down!
I had always wanted to learn diving. I already enjoyed swimming and so diving is my next step. Now that I am retired, it is something which I hope to do soon.
I can highly recommend it! Descending down in to the underwater world is simply amazing. For example when you walk in a forest all the wildlife will run away from you. Underwater it swims around you as though you are part of the environment. You can get up close to amazing animals that are not at all bothered by you.
I went diving a bit in the past and i loved running into these boxfish. You seem to be an expert of sorts so tell me, do they not have predators? When I was swimming with them they didn't seem all that concerned about this HUGE thing (me) floating near it.
I guess any fish bigger would be a natural predator. The colourations on the juvenile are a form of camouflage as other fish don't see colours - only patterns. Any reef fish that has patterns on its body is utilising a form of camouflage as it can blend in with the coral and rocks that are its home and confuse any potential predator...:)
Marine reserves that are protected from fishing and pollution with very quickly attract large schools of Snapper and most of the reefs around Phi Phi have many different species of them
That what the governments should do. Fishing area should be in certain location, it should be a distance to the reservation area.
Absolutely correct. The problem in Thailand is the marine parks simply don't have the resources to fight illegal fishing so its an uphill battle for them. The fishing industry is protected however by mafia and major players with government connections.
Awesome footage. I do lots of snorkelling and find the fish tend to swim away very quickly so most of my photos are of fish tails haha. I also dive so am looking forward to diving when we reach Indonesia. I can aspire to getting shots like yours.

Those beautiful living organisms under water is so beautiful 🥰 I really wanted to pursue my diving skills. Maybe one day! Welcome here! 🤗
Diving is a great sport for sure! Snorkelling is also super and much more accessible plus a good way to get a start in the underwater world.
