It's time to participate in this challenge again. I was supposed to make a post a few days ago, but I had a fever and was busy with work, so I couldn't find the time to make an entry. I finally recovered, so here I am, sharing my entry for ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #87 which is entitled For The Love Of Instant Noodles.
A lot of Filipinos love instant noodles, be it cup noodles, noodle soup or fried ones. So, it's a necessity to have these items in our store since our neighbors eat them anytime of the day. Some people have noodle soup for breakfast, buy cup noodles on their way to work or get some fried noodles to share it with friends for their midnight snack.
The ones in the photo above are mostly Korean ramyun (veggie and shin ramyun) and bulgogi fried noodles. Korean wave is still a thing in the Philippines and it applies to noodles as well. Some of the young ladies in our neighborhood love these stuff... well, I personally like shin ramyun as well... so when I have a craving for it, I just get some from the store. (Don't tell papa. shhhh hahah)
In the Philippines, one of the famous brands is Lucky Me. The ones above are noodle soup. Mostly, people choose between chicken and beef flavor, but sometimes, they also choose pork. We don't have that, though.
Among the noodle soup we have in the store, spicy labuyo beef flavor sells the most. Despite living in a hot country, for some reasons, people love eating spicy noodle soup in the middle of the day. haha And ohh, some eat them with rice, so it's basically carbohydrates party! xDDD
From the same brand, they also have pancit canton. It's fried noodles and a lot of people love it. It comes with several flavors, but the mixed flavors are quite popular in our area.
This one here is sweet and spicy flavor. It's not really my cup of tea, but for some reasons, a lot of kids in our area buy this. Perhaps they enjoy the combination of sweet, savory and spicy tastes.
This one is more my style. It's chilimansi flavor, so it's a combination of chili and Philippine lime or calamansi. Well, there's also a calamansi flavor or extra spicy flavor. When we have pancit canton at home, we usually combine chilimansi and original flavor if mama wants to eat with us. Otherwise, it's chilimansi and extra hot for me and papa. haha
Since we're trying to eat healthier these days, we try to avoid having instant noodles. However, if we do have a craving for them, we usually just use half of the seasoning packet... that way, it's less salty, but still tastes great!
And that's it for my entry this week. Thanks for checking it out! See you around! (^^,)/
It's interesting to see local instant noodles. I love instant noodles (especially Korean ramyeon) but I reduced my consumption this year since I have a sensitive stomach.
Korean noodles are indeed delicious... But yeah, we shouldn't eat too much. You can have some cheat days once in a while... 😁😁😁
I love these noodles. I love the cip noodles more, the Bachoy flavor. Spicy or not, I love it.
Not a huge fan of cup noodles, but that flavor is indeed good. We ran out of that flavor, though... hahah
LUCKY ME Pancit canton for the win! Helped many students and families survived on their daily expenses.
Haha... that's true. A lot of families even try to add more water in one packet just to feed everyone. It's quite unhealthy, but sometimes, we got no choice. :(
Daming version ng pancit canton! Yung cravings kagutom.
Hi!👋 I also eat Pancit Canton Extra Spicy Hot and eat it with rice too. Our family loves to eat Instant noodles or any pasta. Your entry is exciting to read. I also join with my favorite Lucky Me Instant Noodles. Beef Na beef Flavor. God bless you @tegoshei In Jesus' name. Amen!.
Hello... :) Yes, we Filipinos love pancit canton or noodles with rice. hahaha
Thanks for dropping by! :D
I have to say that is a lot of noodles, but who can resist noodles. I think the best flavor is spicy and sour, I've never ramyeon but I really want to try it.
They're items in our store, but we also sometimes get for our consumption. 😂😁 It's delicious, so I hope you can try them someday... 🥰

I still can't get over the hot cheesy seafood flavor, haha. What is the most popular seller in your shop, I'm curious? Do you have foreign brand noodles there from nearby countries like Indonesia? Here in Cambodia foreign brands are often the same price or cheaper than Cambodian brand noodles, I assume because Cambodia doesn't have the technology and massive factories to produce things in big quantities at low prices.
Here it's mostly Mama brand noodles from Thailand and IndoMie, certainly none of the wild flavors you have in the Philippines. Funny how a country's history greatly impacts the cuisine, makes me realize how much Hawaii and your country have in common. After WWII Hawaii became addicted to SPAM and hot dogs, so now they are part of the local culinary culture. I never knew fried chicken and spaghetti was a thing until your country created the combo, haha.
Hahaha... I think it's indeed a Filipino thing? We do have some foreign brand noodles in the international section in some supermarkets. Though there are some Korean or Japanese shops in some places. I haven't fund any Cambodian noodles here, though.
I guess the Philippines is pretty much a mixture of various cultures including food. We even have our Filipino version of Spanish foods like chorizo, paella, empanada among others. ^^
