Oxymel Update - the taste after 3 weeks!

in The Herbal Hive β€’ 3 years ago (edited)

Hi there,
I wanted to do I quick update post on the oxymels I made 3 weeks ago for the contest the Herbal Hive had put up.
They are soooooooo good 😊 I just had to share it with you and say big THANK YOU again to #theHerbalHive for introducing me to this elixir. I am simply in love with everything about it - the ingredients, the simple process and the result!
So I've been shaking the oxymels every single day 😁 and I tried them just once to see how the taste is developing. And they were delicious then...but today mmmm when I opened them today....The scent when I removed the lids was just divine, from both of them!

Just look at the diffeence between the herbs and the color from day 1 and today.

I decided I will do two step strain...since I am out of cheesecloth, I used strainer first to remove the big parts, and theeeen I used (pantyhose) nylon sock πŸ˜„ to remove the fine parts... if you are out of cheescloth, this works great 😁 I started with the Respiratory oxymel.

Look at this beautiful color! And then I took a sip 😍❀️ the taste is waaay better then I expected. It is flowery, sweet and slightly sour. I thought the vinegar will be too much but no, it is perfect. The elderberry flowers gave very good scent and flavor, and the after taste was hard to describe ....amazing is close. The honorable judges took a sip too and declared the mixture approved...yay one more healing elixir the kids like, feeling powerful hereπŸ˜„

I repeated the whole thing with the Sleepy Time oxymel. OMG when I removed the lid, the lavender, aaah the lavender, just such a soft aroma!

The taste of this oxymel was again incredible, can't say better than the other one but I would definitely take bigger sips from this one. Maybe because I love lavender or the mix of herbs really goes well together but my first thought was I have to make more of this 🀩 I cannot wait to go to bed so I can have my shot of Sleepy Time πŸ˜„

I know a lot of people participated in the contest, did you try your oxymels? I bet they are awesome.
And if someone here haven't heard of oxymel, or they have and wonder if they should do it - Just do it, you will love it!
I will observe how my body is responding to the oxymels in time but I know from right away that my soul is very excited to experience those flavors.

Thank you for stopping by!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the process, it's great. They look very strong in color, I can imagine the aromas and flavors.

I have mine in use too. I made one for oregano salads with lemon and it is ready for dressings. I love it. I will continue to make it because the family really liked the taste.

I will make more for sure too.
You make yours with lemon?!? Do you replace the vinegar with lemon or you add it to the vinegar and honey?

I made it with lemon tree leaves, fresh organ leaves and vinegar and honey..... I loved the result.

Ahaa lemon tree leaves...I see. It is not warm enough to have them here in my country. I bet their scent is awesome.

Hi @riverflows 😊 I tried with warm water and it is ok, like tea, but I prefer it neat. I can feel all the flavors much more intense.
I should make one for digestion now, with all the holidays coming 😁
Thank you again for opening my eyes for the oxymels πŸ‘€πŸ˜„

How precious indeed ... I'm still tempted to do it. yesterday I got an interesting handmade honey .. you would like to make one for salad

Do it... if you are tempted πŸ˜„
I should probably do one just for salad. We add honey to our dressing when we decide it goes well with the salad. But the oxymel will be much more intense as flavour, I bet.
