RE: Mission success

in LEGO28 days ago

It's all really cool huh? The memory of this, and other events we've shared, will be treasured for a long time by me and I hope him also.

It was fun going on our mission and the deception we created to make it happen. We have done so many cool things like (don't tell anyone), I took him shooting some of my handguns a couple days ago (yeah I know he's only six and a half) and he will remember that moment for life...as he will driving (off-roading) my truck for a half hour sitting on my lap steering as I used the brake and accelerator. We did some gnarly tracks and he couldn't wipe the grin off his face. It was a very nice moment for me...and now I have a buyer for my truck when I want to sell it as my nephew wants it.

We've flown kites, hiked, visited victor Harbour and Granite Island (places I went as a kid with my parents), went to the botanic Gardens, the museum, played Lego, Uno, Jenga, watched the Duke Boys (Dukes of Hazzard), had water fights, read Asterix and Obleix (my nephew says I'm Obelix and he's Asterix), went on a paddle steamer at Goolwa, had BBQ's, went out for breakfasts, lunches and dinners, ate pancakes at The Pancake Kitchen, watched motor racing, star gazing, went to the beach and swam, walked and had ice cream, went to the hardware store, did some boxing...loads more things too. I know I'm going to miss him the moment he leaves (I'm not great at goodbyes despite having to make many of them over my life), but I'll have all of those things to remember and to look forward to next time.

Way cool! He will be talking about this trip for a long, long time. Man, you guys have done so much in the short time he's been there. When he gets back home he's going to fall into his own bed that first night with total exhaustion.

I was unfamiliar with Asterix and Obelix and had to Google it....the resemblance is uncanny 😂.

It will take him quite awhile to relate to his friends all the escapades you and he went on lol. It would be sweet if you could make a sort of a 'highlights' video for him to watch through the year until his next visit. By the time he comes of age, he will have a wonderful book-worthy collection of his time together with The Best Uncle In The World.

You will miss him tremendously, but just think, you have a year in which to form a plan for his next visit!

We've packed it in for sure but it's not been rushed. He's full of energy and doesn't whine and complain like some other kids so it's easy to do multiple things on a day. He's here for a while yet so have more stuff to do and I hope he goes home feeling like it was a great trip. (I'm a bit worn out, been sleeping solidly...but might need a week off to recover!)
