It's been a minute or two since my last Lego-related post and to be quite frank I'm not sure why I've left it so long; I'm not the lazy type, far from it, but I guess I just had other things to write about and besides, I haven't spent much time doing anything Lego-related for a while. That changed last week though.
Recently I decided to build something which makes a change from all the dismantling I've been doing as per this post, and worked on a racing truck set I had bought a long time ago. It's only a small build but was fun and has the cool element of being a pull-back truck meaning one can pull it back to wind up the motor and release it so it propels itself along; not quite Harry Potter style magic, but magic all the same. (Ok, it's not magic at all.)
Here's a few shots I took of the build process and a couple of finished shots as well.
As with all Lego Technic builds it begins with the motor and frame. The grey thing in the shot above is the pull-back motor with some of the initial framework already added on. I've also included one of the body parts showing a shot of the sticker going on using tweezers.
Below and following is a few shots of the process to completion. As I said, it's not a big build with only two hundred and twenty seven pieces, I'm used to builds with two to three thousand and more, but it was just as fun to build, it just took less time.
This set is a 2-in-1 set meaning it can be dismantled and made into an open-wheel race car, also pull-back driven, and I'll probably do that down the track to see how it comes out.
Putting Lego together is always enjoyable and relaxing for me, a chance to put aside other things that roll around in my noggin and focus on the plans, finding the right parts and getting the set assembled. The satisfaction of the process is always there and seeing something come together to completion adds to it.
Feel free to comment if you'd like, I'm always happy to respond.

Hi, my friend @galenkp
Yes, you got a smile out of me with your Lego build.
I haven't played with Lego in decades. I remember the last set I bought to put together with my kids was the one of a spaceship from the Star War series.
As you say, the assembly process demands your attention and takes your mind off everyday worries.
These days, I de-stress myself by improving my Rubik's cube times using the beginner's method. When I reach a decent time, I will learn the other variants (I know at least eight different ways), so I have enough challenges in mind.
Of course, I don't rule out taking up the famous Legos in the future. Something like the famous Back to the Future movie. Who knows, I might even build the Delorian.
Greetings.
It's a pretty cool one right? Only small, but it packed a solid fun-punch.
I stopped building Lego many years ago and several years ago took it up again and have rekindled my love for it. Building it makes me recall those days as a kid sitting on the floor at home with my brothers and dad making stuff out of Lego.
The Rubik's cube was always something that confounded me and I've only completed it once...by taking it apart and reassembling it. I know, that doesn't count, but at the time I felt like the Rubik's cube champion of the world...for about ten seconds.
Ha, ha, ha, ha. That technique for reassembling the cube looks to me like you took it from Lego. Yes, I think both games have something in common: to train our spatial intelligence.
Yes, some call it cheating, I call it innovating. Lol.
There's a LEGO community?!! Of course there is, I just feel stupid for having missed it for so long.
Yep there sure is, one of my communities.
Don't feel stupid, you're far from that. Even when I act stupid, I don't feel stupid...I just own it. 😁
Haha, thanks. I do really feel stupid though. Everything else I've ever joined - facebook, twitter, reddit, discord, various forums... I've always gone looking for some LEGO. But not here. And it makes me wonder why?
Maybe it's because Hive is more of a DIY place to me, and LEGO (in my mind) has over the years changed from building something from a lot of the basic pieces into following instructions to build sets that include bunches of special pieces which I don't have? Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of those sets, especially the Creator Expert sets (I think they are called) with interesting buildings that connect at the base to build your own city. But... building my own things, and seeing others' "freehand" creations, will still be the best!
Well, I joined the community. Now let's see if I can find some space to pour out my bricks and build something to post!
!ALIVE
I mainly build Lego Technic as you'll see if you scroll back through the community, large sets of thousands of pieces, motors and gears and all that...But I have a pile of bricks that I freestyle with and I love doing that also. Many hours are spent with tea or coffee, snacks and my box of Lego.
I grew up with Lego, but my parents couldn't afford to buy it new so I had no sets, just jumbled parts. I didn't mind though, we had fun all the same and made (to my young mind) some amazing things. Now I have no money problems (within reason) I buy sets. Sure, I still have to justify the purchase and don't just buy what I want when I want (in anything) but I don't feel guilty buying expensive sets because I have worked hard for the ability.
If you feel like posting in the community don't be afraid to tag me as I'd hate to miss out on your posts.
@galenkp! You Are Alive so I just staked 0.1 $ALIVE to your account on behalf of @treefrognada. (4/10)

So I showed @pooky-jax this photo across the table here at Bob Evans on our date night.
She nailed it. She said big truck. Close enough I say. Girls got skillz.
And She is buying so no bias right... Lmao.
Haha, yeah man, it's always great when you get a free dinner! Enjoy you guys, and have a good weekend.
I've only tried LEGO when I was a kid and then early on when I was a teenager. A couple of friends caught me playing with it and teased me to no end so I didn't touch it again.
But it's always relaxing and I just might start again. This must have taken a lot of time to put together.
What an odd thing to tease someone about.
What an odd reason to stop doing something you like doing.
Lol. I didn't stop completely per se. I just picked up other interests.
And I was a silly teenager than. Everything got to me.
Ah ok, obviously I don't know how old people are and as someone whose lived a little bit of life, (and was mercilessly teased and victimised for being brown, I never understand people when they say, the teasing made me stop doing what I wanted to do. I don't think that's a good enough reason to stop...although, I'm speaking from an adult's perspective, not a teenagers. You know?
Teased for being too brown? Now that's funny.
Yeah, obviously if someone teased me about something now. I'd probably do it even more just to rattle you. And I'm still doing what I want in the process so guess who's the fool now.
I grew up in a very white environment...It wasn't funny at all. Not even in the least little bit. It was brutal as the teasing (lets call it racial vilification) was as much physical as emotional, and a five year old has difficulty understanding it when he's the victim.
That's rather sad. Everyone is trying to get so tanned these days, I'm sure you would have been the king of the road if it were now. Being naturally brown.
I still have all my Legos from when I was a kid. My brother in law does too. He actually buys bins of them off eBay and color codes them by size and shape. He is a bit of a nerd about the whole thing. He has a curio cabinet that has all of his completed builds in it. He has a star destroyer and the Millennium Falcon among other things. It's pretty cool.
You (and he) sound like my sport of people. I always wanted a Star Destroyer and the Millennium Falcon would be cool too. When my older brother and I were playing Star Wars I was always Han Solo. Not sure why but that's how it turned out. I never got any Star Wars Lego though, we only got second hand random stuff from the news paper classifieds. It was enough though, and I was happy. I like the way you and your bro in-law roll.
Yeah, most of my Legos came from rummage sales. I think my brother in law said the star destroyer kit was pretty expensive. He also said it was an off brand, so the pieces didn't always fit together the way they should. Can't beat that Lego brand quality control!
Ah yeah, there's a few copies. I don't buy it though...with one exception.
I found military stuff from a brand called Sluban. Guns, tanks, artillery, planes, ships, submarines and so on. It's not as good quality (or as costly) and due to the military aspect which Lego don't do, (woke) I have some.
I'd imagine you could 3D print some of that stuff these days.
Someone once told me, they will soon be able to 3D print pizzas. I'm like...hopefully I'm dead when that happens.
Yeah, I agree with you there. I am not a fan of the 3D printed food fad.
A really nice set!
I confess that I have never ventured into LEgo Technic constructions yet but I hope to fix it soon.
As you know, this passion unites us and even when I dedicate myself to my constructions, I relax and empty my mind a little... we could say that Legos are a meditative exercise heh heh!
You've not done any Lego Technic? Maybe give a small one a try, like this truck and see how you like it. I enjoy the more technical nature of it I guess, and there's some very huge sets like the D11 Caterpillar and 42100 Liebherr R 9800 Excavator for example.
Oh man, seeing those pictures and the previous article makes the kid inside me want to run out and buy them. Unfortunately, Legos aren't available in my country. I think if kids today had them, they wouldn't be on their phones as much. For me, I'd build them, take pictures, and come up with a story to go along with them. Just imagining myself putting together the car models you presented makes me feel amazing. Without a doubt, Lego is fun 😎
I enjoyed both posts, mate.
Excellent photos as always.
It's a really fun thing to do and there's an incredibly wide variety of things to choose from. I tend not to go for the themed stuff like Star Wars stuff but there's some cool themed sets for sure. I do mainly vehicles and build Lego Technic with complex gear boxes, pnumatic movement and motors, some are remote controlled.
Its a shame Lego isn't available, a little weird also.
Thanks for your comments, I hope you manage to get hold of some Lego someday.
I also had my first Lego build in a while this week (A plane) - also don't understand why I haven't got around it it sooner. now to write it up on here
I've got a few small builds to do, things I picked up on sale over the last year or so and I'll get to them slowly. I'm trying not to buy something big (Like the D11 Caterpillar) at the moment...it's hard to show restraint though.
I enjoy building so much though, music, coffee and snacks and I'm set for a few hours.
That's a nice toy for sure! I keep saying to myself that I should begin this passion too, but when I think how expensive it is and that you can easily become addicted to this kind of toys, I postpone the moment, haha!
Oh yeah, it's certainly not a cheap thing to do, and yep it's addictive too. It might be best if you steer clear of it. Lol.
You made me remember very old times, when Lego was not Lego but the former, what times....
Construction is creation and that's why I love it.
I was watching the process in pictures, by the way very good, until the end and I love the result.
I have no idea why but I remembered my grandfather again. In his youth he was a truck driver, unbelievable! But of the old trucks, my grandfather would be 98 years old now... a lot. I didn't get to see that era but there are many anecdotes.
The truth is that I loved the result, the truck is great! Art, where there is order there is creation, a friend always tells me.
Hug Galenkp!
Lego has spanned generations and continues to do so. I have fond memories of being a young kid building Lego with my dad and also with my nephew @mrbonkers...I'm sure we'll enjoy more such times. I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy building Lego, it's like a bridge to the past and future at the same time.
I'm back! Family day away from home...
It's as if the past and the present are coming together in the inner child that we have. A friend once told me... listen to your inner child from time to time... I do.
I often get comments about Lego being for kids in almost every Lego post I do - including this one. It never make sense to me though, I didn't know there was an age limit on fun.
There's not, of course. I don't care if people think I'm childish for building Lego...clearly people who don't know who and what I am.
Lego is not only for children, it is for everyone, having fun is the healthiest thing in the world.
Note: I love games, and I don't consider myself a child...
I might act like a child sometimes, but that's ok I think, considering how serious I am mostly.
It is very good! Keep at it.
They say I laugh at everything, it must be my degree of madness. 🤣
Looks really cool. I didn't know there were lego this detailed. Looks very different to the ones I'm used to. Great build!
Oh yeah, there's Lego like this for sure...I won most of it but I left some for the rest of the world too.
Well look at that! I thought LEGO was only for kids, but this kind of assembly can only be done by an intelligent EXPERT!
Lego is for anyone who likes fun and last time I checked fun wasn't only the domain of children.
Definitely! I would certainly do this if I had the patience for it.
Lego is always fun man, loved it as a kid and have refound the love as my kids now love it too. It's a brilliant creative past time especially when you free style without instructions!
It's one of the world's most enjoyable and enduring toy inventions and one that has spanned generations. I mainly build sets but have a big box of it for freestyling purposes. So much fun.
Definitely man and great to see you still playing too. Carl Young is a huge believer in benefits of play for adults, but most people don't do it.
I wasn't aware of this community, I only heard about Lego, when I was doing Product research for AMAZON.
Ah ok, well it's my community, I started it because I like Lego. It's not used much and that's ok.
