Yes, I’ve always done that before. He shot in RAW and translated into bw in Lightroom. There you can fine-tune the settings. At the same time, I shot in color mode initially.
Here I found the shooting mode in bw and try to understand what it gives me and what takes.
At least I see a bw picture right away in the viewfinder, and when shooting in RAW I do not lose color. If I shoot in Jpeg, then the colors are already lost forever.

Out of habit, I use Bridge and the RAW converter. Never used lightroom, but I think it is quite the same thing. Most of the work I do with the RAW converter. I hardly use Photoshop. If I really would need Photoshop to heavily 'improve' the photo I rather delete it.

For a long time I used only Camera RAW. Lightroom is almost the same. Only there is an opportunity to work with libraries and some useful functions are added. I use Photoshop only to create a collage, if necessary for publication. I agree that a convector is enough to process the photo.
