Growing up, I was never much impressed with parks, they just seemed a pale imitation of what I had out my front and back doors. After living in the city for many years that still hasn't changed, but I have come to appreciate how a pale imitation is better than nothing. Plus the opportunities for street photography were rather sparse in my woods.
Did you know that if you take tennis and strip out all the parts that make it fun, the result is pickleball? Earlier this year the city redid all the courts in the park but somebody fucked up majorly and half the tennis courts got made into pickleball courts. Boomers are to blame for this...
Louisville has Kentucky's only pro sports team, Racing Louisville, the women's soccer team. Despite that, basketball is still by far the most popular sport in the state.
We walk in the park nearly every day, and it's a rare occasion that the basketball court isn't full. The other courts see plenty of use as well but nothing like the basketball court.
It's also the only one without a fence, which makes it a lot easier to get clear shots of the action.
Do you scream for ice cream? Or is it because of the old kidnapper vans they sell it from? It's actually even creepier in person, alternating between blaring music to lure children and a high-pitched, disembodied voice saying "Hello!"
That's probably enough wandering in the park for one day but before I ride on out of here I had to include this last shot. As a kid, riding in the back of a truck was one of my favorite things but up here folks get a lot more excited about it. Got lucky and spotted this as they were leaving the park and I was doing the same.
You kidnapper vans are more modern than ours. There are quite a few of these still on the road out here
Ha, somehow your kidnapper vans look less sketchy than ours do. Could just be those old VWs just conjure up thoughts of the hippies in the 60s.
Everything is prepackaged in the vans here, does that "Specially made for you" mean those still put together everything on the fly?
Yup, it is old-school: just a soft-serve machine and cones inside the van. Buying prepackaged stuff is more expensive and runs the risk of stock remaining unsold
Looks like prayer session in the bed of that step side.
"Dear Ford, protect and watch over us and keep us safe from Chevy and all the other devious drivers amongst us. Amen."
I’ve always imagined sitting at the back of a Hilux that way😅😅
Nice pictures!
It's fun, as long as there's no sudden movements. I've seen lots of photos of people riding in Hilux like that but they usually had heavy machine guns in the back like this.
Thank you!
