"Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors... and miss." --- Robert Heinlein
Alcohol and law enforcement sure don't mix but for some reason one seems to follow the other all too often. I was reading @dandays' post about something that never really happened and it reminded me of way too many times that's been the case for me.
One thing led to another and somehow I found myself editing photos of law enforcement from the protests here, and now I've gotta share a few that I found a bit interesting. I can't decide if this first photo is of a cop pretending to be a ninja turtle or if it's one of those teenage mutants pretending to be a cop.
Hey look! It's Officer Goonie! Who the hell thought it was a good idea to give him an AR-15? At least his finger isn't on the trigger... Around here, flipping the cops the bird counts as disorderly conduct, I don't even want to think about how much discretion they have in using ARs.
Is it just me or is the cop on the left in the photo above Mark Zuckerberg in LMPD uniform? I swear I know that sneer from elsewhere...
Somebody get that officer a cot! He looks ready for a nap more so than a riot. Maybe he's had a bit too much to drink already too...
So who else on the hive has given up alcohol on account of less than pleasurable experiences with law enforcement?
All I feel when I see the people who supposedly protect and serve me, is fear. It's only 6:30am but I think I need a drink.
If you're thinking about those that protect and serve at 6:30am then you definitely need a drink.
My problem was that when I was drinking the fear didn't catch up in time to stop me from doing shit.
Ah yes. Wouldn't be surprised if I run into that sort of problem at some point.
I just drove through town about two hours ago on my way into the national forest. Right there on main street, two police cars parked next to a house and two cops standing against the fence with weapons drawn, one pointing a pistol and the other aiming a shotgun right at someone's home. I suppose I should probably check the papers next week to see if anyone got murdered.
Well ain't going to lie I still have a tendency to drink too much.
I'm still gonna comment anyway.
Good to see the softer side of the 5 0 tho, think the dude in the last shot mighta been swallowing the evidence?
Great pics man as always
A tendency to drink too much is no prohibition on commenting, my tendency for that hasn't went nowhere I suspect.
To be honest I have difficulty seeing a softer side in someone who is kinda keeping from pointing his AR at me. With the lack of context I can see how it could seem that way though.
Dude in the last photo just makes me think of my little brother when my parents made him play baseball, more interested in playing in the grass and chewing on his glove than anything that was going on around him.
Thank ya!
Fair play and I can see what you mean. Its the lack of interest that speaks volumes. I know all about the old AR blues, if I had a dollar for every time I had to put my hands on the wall and kiss the concrete Id be pretty wealthy.
But all the same thanks for bein out in the field to capture these shots. Much obliged.
The guy that reminds you of your lil brother reminds me of much the same thing different circumstances. Its hard to articulate in the comments sometimes without writing a novel.
Keep postin we'll keep readin.
I'll drink to that!
Water, of course, unless I'm feeling frisky and then I'll go straight Coke Zero at room temp.
That quote's hilarious.
Mutant turtle?! L O L but that last one. Almost the whole front line is helmeted and facing forward and then there's that dude.
Jethro, Thank you.
Coke Zero, neat. That was how I used to take my bourbon!
Robert Heinlein is the shit, one of my favorite authors, there's plenty more good ones where that one came from. Lol, the only wedding I've officiated (I'm ordained in the Universal Life Church) I used one of his books instead of a bible and multiple quotes of his as part of the ceremony.
I still can't figure out what the fuck was going on with the one guy in the last photo, I've got several from that incident and he's like that in all of them.
My pleasure, sir!
iheart weddings.
I got a Charles Bukowski line I really like, I don't know it verbatim but pretty much... When I'm shitfaced drunk and she's pissed off to the point she wants to kill me cuz I'm shitfaced drink, we're almost equal.
I can't NOT laugh at that. Even right now.
