When I visited the North Bridge Road area last Saturday, I took the opportunity to go on a photo walk along the road and its connecting alleys. It was a delightful walk because I had plenty of time to explore the area, and I was feeling very full after a heavy meal. All I could do during this time was walk slowly, taking pauses to photograph the streets and buildings that caught my eye.
These are the kinds of experiences that make me appreciate the city more than anything else. The wonderful weather also played a part—it felt great to have a consistent breeze cooling me down during the walk. It’s no longer as cold as it was in December, but the weather is still much more pleasant than what we’ll face during the upcoming summer season. That’s why I’m making an effort to explore as many places as I can during this season, which feels far more comfortable for outdoor activities.
I remember a few months ago, during the previous summer season, I would start sweating within three minutes of stepping outdoors for a walk. Of course, I’d still prefer summer over the rainy season. For me, the rainy season is the most frustrating because of its unpredictability. It feels pointless to make plans since everything ultimately depends on the weather. Here in Singapore, the rainy season often brings mild, persistent rains that can last for hours. Personally, I’d much rather experience a heavy but short downpour than light rain that drizzles on through an entire afternoon. At least with a short, intense rain, I could plan my activities better and not feel like I’m wasting my time.
For today’s post, I’d like to share the photos I took during my walk along North Bridge Road.
It’s been a while since my last contribution to the Black and White Community, so I’m taking this opportunity to share some of the things that caught my interest during the walk.
What I love about North Bridge Road is the variety of architectural designs in the area. There are high-rise office and residential buildings that boast modern or international design styles. There are hotels with classical designs, as well as shophouses inspired by European styles. While I may be a fan of modern designs, I also appreciate the elaborate details of the shophouses. I’m amazed by the dedication of the designers in the past, who took the time to develop intricate details that make the facades of these shophouses so beautiful.
Exploring North Bridge Road was a refreshing experience that allowed me to appreciate the city’s blend of architectural styles and rich history. It’s moments like these that remind me of the beauty hidden in the everyday streets of Singapore. I hope these photos inspire you to take your own walk and discover the charm of this vibrant area.
Struggling with sweat in the heat of summer, and the wet in the rainy winter season is par for the course over here. That North Bridge Road certainly looks interesting, and you have some great photos in here.

I do enjoy my walks in the city and North Bridge road is a spot where I can say as one of my favorites :)
When you have photography as a routine, you can take the time to walk and detail every street or space in a city, you focus on what other people don't pay attention to, just as you show us with your photographs.
Ah yes, indeed. A slow photo walk is something that I enjoy doing lately because of the nice weather :)
