Taking photos has become more than just a hobby for me; it's a way to stay active, get creative, and discover new corners of my city that I'd otherwise miss. There's something magical about wandering through familiar streets and suddenly noticing the details that bring the built environment to life. It's like the camera lens sharpens my focus, helping me appreciate the everyday moments I might’ve overlooked if I wasn't capturing them.
One thing that keeps me snapping pictures regularly is the encouragement from the community. A perfect example is my weekly dive into the CCC Street Art Contest. This contest nudges Hive users like me to hunt down and showcase the vibrant street art that colors our surroundings. It’s not just about the photos; it’s a way for me to learn more about the street art scene in my city and gain a deeper appreciation for the artists behind it.
Another challenge that I’m hooked on is the #monomad challenge. It’s all about creating black-and-white photos of anything that catches my eye. Sounds simple, right? But it's actually trickier than I thought. Sure, turning a photo into black and white is as easy as pressing a button, but not every shot looks good without color. Some subjects, like street scenes, architecture, and portraits, seem to pop in monochrome, creating a more impactful image.
Today's #monomad entry is a collection of shots I snapped with my phone over the past week. My phone’s at least 8 years old, yet it still manages to take decent photos, thanks to constant software updates. It might not be as fancy as the latest models, but it's good enough to share with the community. I’ve noticed the camera’s focus has improved a lot; especially when there are people in the frame. So, without further ado, here are the photos I’m submitting for today’s #monomad challenge.
