It's been a while since I developed the habit of holding small funeral rituals for animals I find dead, mostly birds and butterflies. Almost always in my garden or in places I wander through.
Butterflies are the majority, it’s true, and I can’t deny that I am absolutely fascinated by them. I think I have such a strong desire to touch them and rarely get the chance that when they are lifeless it feels as if I finally can. It’s almost like a childlike curiosity.
After holding them in awe for a few minutes I always feel the need to document their life, their passage through this world. It’s stronger than me and I can’t help it. And part of this ritual is letting the butterfly rest on a bed of flowers. These images show a butterfly I found a few days ago on my street and brought home so it could complete its cycle among the flowers in my backyard.
These images are my entry for today's #Monomad challenge.
Beautiful shots. 💯
Thank you!!!
