Towards other times | Monomad Challenge [ENG-ESP]

Sometimes you go on an excursion and not only walk towards a certain geographical space, but also towards other times.

A veces sales de excursión y no sólo caminas hacia un determinado espacio geográfico, sino también hacia otros tiempos.

That's what happened to me recently when I went to visit Hacienda Las Sabanetas, I traveled about 200 years ago, and when I found so many old objects and scenes from other times, I decided to share these black and white shots as my entry for the #monomad challenge.

Eso fue lo que me sucedió hace poco cuando fui a conocer la Hacienda Las Sabanetas, viajé unos 200 años atrás, y al encontrarme con tantos objetos antiguos y escenas de otras épocas, decidí compartir estas tomas en blanco y negro como mi entrada para el reto #monomad.

The house is quite large, with a spacious living room, several rooms with mysterious doors, and things like the old oven, which is still used by the people who take care of the place and work on the land belonging to this property.

La casa es bastante grande, con una amplia sala de estar, varias habitaciones con misteriosas puertas, y cosas como el antiguo horno, que todavía es utilizado por las personas que cuidan el lugar y trabajan en las tierras pertenecientes a esta propiedad.

As you walk into the backyard, in a roofed part, one of the most used objects today, a telephone, stands out. This could be, let's say, the great-great-grandfather of smartphones 😄.

Al pasar hacia el patio trasero, en una parte techada, destaca uno de los objetos más usados hoy en día, un teléfono. Este podría ser, digamos, el tatarabuelo de los teléfonos inteligentes 😄.

I did a little research, and this wall telephone, made of wood, is from the early 20th century. How would the caller's voice be heard? It's amazing how communications technology has evolved!

Investigué un poco, y este teléfono de pared fabricado en madera, es de principios del siglo XX. ¿Cómo se oiría la voz del que llamaba? ¡Es increíble cómo ha evolucionado la tecnología de las comunicaciones!

In the backyard there is striking xerophytic vegetation, there was a cute cat watching us visitors, and a plastic water tank that brought me back to the present time.

En el patio trasero hay una llamativa vegetación xerófila, estaba un lindo gato observándonos a los visitantes, y un tanque de agua plástico que me trajo de vuelta a la época actual.

In another adjoining courtyard, which seemed like a secret, there was a series of objects that I couldn't identify, I think some had to do with the plow, with horses, and others that hung from the ceiling looked like lamps.

En otro patio contiguo, que parecía como secreto, había una serie de objetos que no pude identificar, creo que algunos tenían que ver con el arado, con caballos, y otros que colgaban del techo parecían lámparas.

From there an open door invited me to explore further. I walked through it and found a part of the house almost completely abandoned and deteriorating.

Desde allí, una puerta abierta me invitó a seguir explorando. La atravesé y me encontré con una parte de la casa casi completamente abandonada y en deterioro.

A disused water channel, cracked walls, broken doors, a floor full of dry leaves and other signs that no one has taken care of this space for a long time, dominate this still attractive area.

Un canal de agua en desuso, paredes con grietas, puertas rotas, el suelo lleno de hojas secas y otras señales de que nadie se ha ocupado de este espacio por mucho tiempo, dominan esta aún atractiva área.

Upon returning to the front of the house and observing the surroundings, I could distinguish in the distance the metal structure of what looks like a wagon, and a few meters behind the old sugar mill covered with vines. At Hacienda Las Sabanetas sugar cane was planted and processed.

Al regresar al frente de la casa y observar los alrededores, pude distinguir a lo lejos la estructura metálica de lo que parece fue una carreta, y unos metros detrás el viejo trapiche cubierto de enredaderas. En la Hacienda Las Sabanetas se sembraba y procesaba la caña de azúcar.

I left with the idea that it would be great if the owners could turn this place into a museum or something like that, it is already included in the Venezuelan Cultural Heritage Catalog, I guess they would have to look for support, sponsorship, or invest themselves to restore it and take advantage of it for tourism, it has potential.

Me fui con la idea de que sería genial que los dueños convirtieran este lugar en un museo o algo así, ya está incluido en el Catálogo del Patrimonio Cultural Venezolano, supongo que tendrían que buscar apoyo, patrocinio, o ellos mismos invertir para restaurarlo y sacarle provecho turístico, potencial tiene.
