Here's what I learned: fireflies live in grass, moss, or under fallen leaves. And at night they go hunting. They are predators: they feed on ants, small spiders, larvae of other insects, small animals, snails and rotting plants.
No, of course I did not keep it, but released it into our garden immediately after I took the photo. I hoped that I would see his light in the evening, but since then I have not seen him again. π
