Work Hard, Not Smart!

Before you begin reading, the title of this post is actually "work smart, not hard", but I decided to change it up for two reasons. First, for those who might click because they are confused by the title, and second, because I literally want to justify the effort I intend to put into this post, beginning with twisting the title.

I have realized that simply doing things the same way or following in the footsteps of others (herd mentality) makes it difficult for people to stand out. Saying the same thing that others have heard before does not exactly make you creative.

Because you are in the league of wealthy people or are attending a college for wealthy people, it does not follow that you must act rich in order to be accepted.

There is nothing wrong with being poor, broke, or struggling.

You can be broke and struggling and still have something that sells you despite your financial limitations. I knew people who could not even afford good meals when I was a teenager, but they shook hands with wealthy people, drew the attention of classy people, and made themselves desirable.

Do you know why we see people differently irrespective of their primary mode of identification? It is because they have chosen to show you something other than what you could have seen if you talked to them.

When you see someone in a wheelchair, you may associate them with poverty, but once they speak or you hear their accent, that identity stamp begins to change.

For example, I have been a beggar in the past and even now, but because I do it in a different way, it is difficult to classify me as a beggar, an opportunist, or a weirdo. Similarly, I have seen people take money from me by being smooth in their speech and mannerisms. It is the ability to work smartly.

I have spoken with several people before, and I knew I needed their assistance, but I would not tell them I needed it; instead, I would sell them something, and they would go off to help me without realizing I was the beggar and they were the benevolent ones.

In reality, there is nothing wrong with admitting your inabilities.

Most people close to me are aware of my limitations, but they have never seen me as less human. I do not want to believe I am less human; instead, I want to believe I am who I am, no matter how bad things are.

We live in a world where people would rather lie in order to elevate themselves to the level of those with whom they want to associate. In a world that is class-biased, people can be classless yet valuable.

I read a post today about someone who talked about having multiple streams of income: two rental property, a YouTube channel, some crypto stash and two other businesses. He apparently wanted to use it to motivate people, and I got it. He was proud of what he had accomplished, and if he had not talked about it, many people would not have seen him that way.

Hive

On Hive, for example, we frequently believe that the wallet disparity is the most significant barrier to social interaction and connections, but this is not always the case. People sometimes believe they cannot make connections because they have 50 HP and the other person has 200K HP.

There is nothing wrong with being less privileged; sometimes the mind is the reason people are unable to break free. Imagine a potential spouse; you see them from a distance, like them, and think they would make an excellent wife/husband, but they drive a Ferrari and you drive a Toyota. We fear failure more than the failure itself.

The fear of failing is often bigger than when you've failed, and that's because we imagine different possibilities, what will be and what wouldn't be. The fear of doing it correctly and still being wrong, the fear of so many possibilities.

Just A Little

Some of the people you consider to be smart, creative, and productive on Hive are simply regular people with similar life problems to you. They may outperform you in many areas, but you outperform them in many as well.

However, some of these people simply perform some of the fundamental internet tasks better than you; it accumulates over time, they get lucky, and boom! They are geniuses.

I recently met someone and we talked, and while they appear to be very naive in many aspects of life, I could really see the uniqueness in how they have handled their lives' business, which makes me envious. In reality, this person may envy me as well, but the fact that we envy each other indicates that we are both doing things differently. We do not need everything; we just need to do some regular things in a more creative and intelligent manner.

It's an interesting to consider but I agree that everyone is different. It's common to envy some people, and for them to envy you back. Everyone's situation is different and there are things that others are better at. We are all just trying to live our lives.

Well I think there's a "healthy envy" if there's something like that. I think in this situation people just admire others in a healthy way and just want to improve their lives because of the how the lives of the other person has challenged them to.

Thanks a million

Lol, nice clickbait, man.

Identity is a psychological construct, and many people are influenced by how they think other people identify them. It's nice to decenter from this line of thinking because it helps you really see people as people, and gives you the confidence to be yourself unapologetically.

I reckon.. it's not always easy though. Sometimes we're what we they define is as. Since we mostly seek validation and use it as a yardstick to measure how adequate we are, it's always difficult to think we're at the center piece. In Africa, especially in Africa.

However, we just have to. Sometimes it's important we do.

Well I've been wondering too, then I had a conversation with someone here and well, decided to use it today.

Thanks 👍

First off I'm in the league of those who clicked because I was intrigued by the title. Indeed the side of ourselves we present to people is how they will see us. We may be poor but if we present the desirable aspects of us we may be able to relate with people whose class are above our own and benefit from that relationship. The part of you you sell to people is what they will take you for and that's how they will treat you. And if you always sell the good part of yourself to people it reduces the fear of failure and helps you take chances even if it seems they will fail from the start.

Well, thanks for clicking... Titling is one aspect of SEO that sells a lot in web2 and it also attract readers here in web3 as well.
In reality, we all have what we are at our natural state, there's this thing we are and what we are by default, but we can be extra creative and just add something different to ourselves, it can go a long way

True! I've know many millionaires who aren't particularly smart, but they essentially got lucky. Right place at the right time. But here online consistency and dedication slowly add up.

Exactly, online consistency pays. Many things are realizable when people just shows up everyday.
