Hello friends and members of Olio di Balena community!
I don't know if you also feel the same way but to me it really seems like time is going by fast.
Next weekend is near, and today I am happy to present to you the seventh edition of the mini contest born from the collaboration between the Olio di Balena community and Leofinance.
This mini-contest has a double purpose:
- create a moment of interaction and sharing among the users of Olio di Balena
- raise knowledge of a useful tool created by Leofinance for Hive communities: the Community Threads
In fact the new Leofinance UI is no longer a single community front-end but is a front-end that can be used to interact and post to all Hive communities such as Peakd and Ecency.
Mini Contest Topic
For the sixth edition of the Olio di Balena-Leofinance mini-contest you need to create a thread within the Odb community and answer the question:
## What do you think is the most important element to focus on to be successful on Hive?
Important note: Explain why in your Odb thread!

Start: October 5, 2023
End: October 8, 2023 - 11:59 p.m.
Mini Contest Rules
Rule 1: You must create a Thread within the Olio di Balena community (a thread with tag #oliodibalena).
Rule 2: In the thread you must answer the question:
What do you think is the most important element to focus on to be successful on Hive?
Important note: Explain why in your Odb thread!
- Rule 3: In the thread you must include an image of your own or a photo taken from your personal photo archive or a photo/screenshot you took pertaining to the contest topic.
Alternative to Rule 3: You may also not use images but in this case you must create a threadstorm equivalent to three threads.
Rule 4: you can choose to write your thread in Italian language or English language or both.
Rule 5: you must be a member of the Olio di Balena community.
Mini Contest DEADLINE: the contest starts today, September 28, 2023 and ends at 11:59 p.m. (Italian time) on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

How to Create a Thread in Olio di Balena
(Step-by-step guide)
A Thread is a Twitter-style post created and stored on the Hive blockchain through the use of the Leofinance User Interface (UI)
A Community Thread is a thread posted within a Hive community and viewable within the Communities->"Community Name"->Threads section of the Leofinance UI.
Olio di Balena community threads can be created and viewed within the Threads section of the page: https://leofinance.io/communities/hive-146620
A thread is viewable in the Olio di Balena community if it contains the tag #oliodibalena
Creating a Community Thread is a very simple task and I will show you the steps to follow.
Step 1: Login to Leofinance.
- Step 1.1: You have to go to https://leofinance.io/ and then you have to click on Log in
- Step 1.2: On the next screen you have several log in options to choose from including:
LeoAuth: You have to enter your Hive username, your Posting Key and then you have to click on Log in.
Log in with Hive KeyChain: You have to enter your Hive username, then you have to click on Log in and then you have to click on Confirm within the Hive Keychain screen.
Step 2: Enter the Home Page of the Olio di Balena.
- Step 2.1: You need to click on Communities.
- Step 2.2: You must enter "Olio di Balena" or part of the name in the search field.
- Step 2.3: You must click on the box that contains the logo and name of Olio di Balena
- Alternative Step 2: you need to go directly to the link: https://leofinance.io/communities/hive-146620
Step 3: Create and post the Mini Contest Participation Thread.
- Step 3.1: Within the Home Page of Olio di Balena you need to click on Threads
- Step 3.2: Then you need to enter the text of your thread in the box that contains the #whaleoil tag
- Step 3.3: Then you need to click on Thread in the bottom right corner.
Operation completed! Easy right? ;)
Now all you have to do is participate in this nice mini contest ;)
Advice: If the text of your thread exceeds the maximum capacity of a single thread you can also write a threadstorm.
In this case only in the first thread you have to insert:
- the tag oliodibalena
- the tag threadstorm
- the 1/x indication where x is the number of threads your threadstorm contains.
All other threads after the first one you must enter them as comments to your first thread indicating for each thread the number of the tread such as 2/5, 3/5, ... 5/5

The Participants and the Announcement of the Winners of the Sixth Edition of the Mini Contest (September 28, 2023 - October 1, 2023)
Now let's find out who were the participants in the previous mini contest and their Odb threads.
In the previous mini-contest (September 28, 2023 - October 1) there were 4 entries.
Dear users of Whale Oil, when do we want to break the record of participations which is stuck at 8? :)
The participants of the sixth mini contest had to answer the following question.
The first participant was @bencwarmer who shared the biggest difficulty he encountered on Hive: the Sign Up.
Indeed, this is perhaps the first major difficulty a new user encounters on Hive especially if Hive is their first experience in the world of blockchains.
There is to say that compared to when I registered on Hive (4 years ago) and compared also to when bencwarmer registered on Hive (Jan. 25, 2021) the registration process is much easier and there are also several registration options.
I did not have particular difficulties when I signed up in 2019 but only because I had purchased an online course that covered 10 blockchain projects and within the course was a video tutorial on how to sign up on Hive.
Out of the 10 projects presented in that online course only one is still alive. Guess which one? ;)

The second participant was @pousinha who is also one of the most frequent participants in the mini contest.
The biggest difficulty pousinha faced on Hive was increasing the number of her followers.
It was the interaction that allowed pousinha to increase her followers.

The third participant was @mad-runner whose biggest difficulty was to understand the location of posts on Hive such as the difference between publishing a post in his own blog or within a community.
The difficulty described by mad-runner is surely another initial difficulty for those who are new to Hive.

The fourth and final participant was @duvinca who had particular difficulties in learning the mechanics of selling and buying HBDs or buying and selling HIVE tokens.
Duvinca overcame her difficulties with the help of other hivers and their guides.
Hive is beautiful precisely because the climate there is one of mutual help ;)

But now it is time to announce the prize winners!
With only 4 participants and 5 LEO token prizes I might as well not count the comments received from participants because all participants won a prize but I wanted to do the count anyway.
The threads that generated the most interaction were in order by comments received:

Il prossimo week-end è vicino e oggi sono felice di presentarvi la settima edizione del mini contest nato dalla collaborazione tra la comunità di Olio di Balena e Leofinance.
Questo mini-contest ha un duplice obiettivo:
- creare un momento di interazione e condivisione tra gli utenti di Olio di Balena
- far conoscere un utile strumento creato da Leofinance per le comunità di Hive: i Community Threads

Un Thread è un post Twitter-style creato e memorizzato sulla blockchain di Hive tramite l'utilizzo della Leofinance User Interface (UI)
Un Community Thread è un thread pubblicato all'interno di una comunità di Hive e visualizzabile all'interno della sezione Communities->"Nome Comunità"->Threads della Leofinance UI.

Un thread è visualizzabile nella comunità di Olio di Balena se contiene il tag #oliodibalena
Creare un Community Thread è un'operazione molto semplice e ti mostro i passi da seguire.
Passo 1: Login su Leofinance
- Passo 1.1: Devi andare su https://leofinance.io/ e poi devi cliccare su Log in
- Passo 1.2: Nella schermata successiva hai diverse opzioni di log in tra cui scegliere tra cui:
- LeoAuth: Devi inserire il tuo Hive username, la tua Posting Key e poi devi cliccare su Log in.
- Log in con Hive KeyChain: Devi inserire il tuo Hive username, poi devi cliccare su Log in e poi devi cliccare su Confirm all'interno della schermata di Hive Keychain.

Passo 3: Creare e pubblicare il Thread di partecipazione al mini contest.
- Passo 3.1: All'interno della Home Page di Olio di Balena devi cliccare su Threads
- Passo 3.2: Poi devi inserire il testo del tuo thread nel riquadro che contiene il tag #oliodibalena
- Passo 3.3: Poi devi cliccare su Thread in basso a destra.
Operazione completata! Facile vero? ;)
Adesso non devi fare altro che partecipare a questo bel mini contest ;)
Consiglio: Se il testo del tuo thread è superiore alla capienza massima di un singolo thread puoi anche scrivere un threadstorm.
In questo caso solo nel primo thread devi inserire:

Adesso scopriamo chi sono stati i partecipanti al precedente mini contest e i loro Odb threads.
Nel mini-contest precedente (28 settembre 2023 - 1 ottobre) ci sono state 4 partecipazioni.
Cari utenti di Olio di Balena vogliamo superare il record di partcipazioni che è fermo a 8? :)
I partecipanti del sesto mini contest dovevano rispondere alla seguente domanda.
Il primo partecipante è stato @bencwarmer che ha condiviso la difficoltà più grande che ha incontrato su Hive: il Sign Up.
In effetti questa è forse la prima grande difficoltà che incontra un utente nuovo su Hive soprattutto se Hive è la sua prima esperienza nel mondo delle blockchains.
C'è da dire che rispetto a quando io mi sono registrato su Hive (4 anni fa) e rispetto anche a quando bencwarmer si è registrato su Hive (25 gennaio 2021) il processo di registrazione è molto più semplice e ci sono anche diverse opzioni di registrazione.
Io non ho avuto particolari difficoltà quando nel 2019 ho fatto il sign up ma solo perchè avevo acquistato un corso online che riguardava 10 progetti blockchain e all'interno del corso c'era un video tutorial su come registrarsi su Hive.
Tra i 10 progetti presentati in quel corso online è ancora vivo solo uno. Indovina quale? ;)

La seconda partecipante è stata @pousinha che è anche una delle partecipanti più assidue al mini contest.
La più grande difficoltà che pousinha ha incontrato su Hive è stata aumentare il numero dei suoi followers.
E' stata l'interazione a permettere a pousinha di aumentare i suoi followers.
Cara pousinha se continuerai ad interagire vedrai che anche i tuoi followers continueranno ad aumentare di numero ;)

Il terzo partecipante è stato @mad-runner che ha avuto come più grande difficoltà quella di comprendere la collocazione dei post su Hive come ad esempio la differenza tra il pubblicare un post nel proprio blog o all'interno di una comunità.
Quella descritta da mad-runner è sicuramente un'altra difficoltà iniziale per chi è un nuovo utente di Hive.

La quarta e ultima partecipante è stata @duvinca che ha avuto particolari difficoltà nel imparare i meccanismi per vendere e acquistare HBD o per acquistare e vendere i token HIVE.
Duvinca ha superato le sue difficoltà grazie all'aiuto di altri hivers e delle loro guide.
Hive è bella proprio perchè il clima che si respira è un clima di aiuto reciproco ;)

Ma adesso è arrivato ilmomento di annunciare i vincitori dei premi!
Con solo 4 partecipanti e 5 premi in token LEO potevo anche non contare i commenti ricevuti dai partecipanti perchè tutti i partecipanti hanno vinto un premio ma ho voluto fare il conteggio comunque.
