I don't think we live in a simulation as the world is crazier than anyone could imagine. But we can get stuck in a 'box'. You have to live the life you want and not always conform to what others expect.

No, we don't live in a simulation but we can't deny that big companies are always running simulations based on our behaviour to get a predictable result when they consider to introduce a new element - or change an existing one - on the market. Same for governments.
If they are capable to do that properly, it's another story
