RE: Krakow under snow & little guessing challenge

in Liketu3 years ago

I missed the deadline but just wanted to comment that the city looks pretty great, not too tall, not too small. I have a friend that I went to high school with that lives in the suburbs of Krakow on some quiet land. I don't think he can even speak much of the local language but he seems to really like it there. Seeing as how he cannot speak Polish, does the local community speak English pretty well? I just kind of wonder how difficult his life must be if he can't talk to most people.

Thank you :) Well, you cannot really see much of the cityscape from these particular shots, Krakow is actually quite a big city (almost 800,000 people) but it´s very charming. It doesn´t have the modern downtown with skyscrapers like Warsaw but the old town is just astonishing, there are so many impressive pieces of architecture dating back to up to a thousand of years ago... Krakow is also very green with dozens of beautiful parks. You can check out some more panoramic shots here, I took those from a hot air baloon, they look pretty cool :)

As for your question, I would say that most people here in the city speak (at least some) English. It´s a very touristy city so the locals are used to meeting visitors from other parts of the country as well as from abroad. Especially the younger generations speak English without any problems.
