Dear Torch Keepers and all Others!
If you don´t know yet what the Hivetorch is, please check out this initial post. It is basically a POT project - PROOF OF TRUST - on the Hive blockchain!
Hundreds of posts have been created in the Hivetorch Community so far, here is just a small collage of some of the visuals - amazing, isn´t it?
By the way, there are currently 445 Torch Keepers - you can (in peakd.com) easily identify them through their Hivetorch Keeper-badge!
Now we hit another milestone on its journey across the globe by having achieved 500 transfers!
It took 502 days to accomplish this, so on average 1 day per transfer, the record is still 14 in a single day! In this time 772 Hive were accumulated - on average 1,54 Hive per hop.
At the 333th transfer I did this poll and the outcome was to continue until 500 and then to do a poll again - so here we are!
Unfortunetely not too many ideas have come up since then.
What to do with the accumulated 772 Hive?
- Just continue until 1000 transfers and then vote again?
- Burn the Torch by sending to @null?
- Delegate to a curation project like @curangel?
- Support onboarding activities of @theterminal to delegate HP to new users? (this was suggested at the last poll by @wesphilbin, but I am not sure if this project is still active)
- Support meetups? (this was suggested by @vikisecrets, but not sure how to organize and which accounts - please add relevant comments or suggestions, so that people have a better idea)
- Support the hospital costs of the uncle of @therealflaws (as detailed in this post)?
- Support the development of peakd? (this was one of the previous suggestions, but people from within peakd had indicated that this is not needed)
- Any other ideas?
I look forward to any comments with arguments pro/con of the options, but please vote for one of them in the separate poll post I have created. Only those votes count, otherwise the counting gets messy. If you have any other suggestion about an interesting project worth a support, please put it in the comments of this post and I will add it to the vote options!
The option/suggestion with the most votes after one week will be selected!

Hey there! For those who want to support my suggestion, first of all: Thank you very much.
I want to clarify that I don't need all the Hivetorch, I know how important it is to support the projects within Hive so I would like it to be distributed among those projects as well. I asked stayoutoftherz to add my suggestion because any amount of money I can get from it would mean quite a lot of support for me. I prefer for now that the amount of money you can contribute is decided by the community itself, I will be eternally grateful for any support you guys can give.
I can also give proof and any kind of thing the community requires to show what the money is being used for.
Your suggestion got (currently) 12,5% of the votes, so why not use 12,5% of the Torch sum for it? Wouldn´t that be fair?
Yeah man, that would be really amazing.
Of all things... on the day when it is darkest. On the day when, for me anyways, trust is at an all time low on this blockchain. On the day I, for the very 1st time EVER! (excluding when we all decided to move to the Hive Blockchain) decided to initiate a power down on ALL my accounts... this is the 1st post I read UPon waking! A Hive Torch Post proving that there is Trust on this blockchain...
But is it enough...?
That is my question.
My advice, like that coming from a canary in a coal mine, is to NOT continue passing the torch.
There are big undercurrents at play here... and after nearly 4 years of being a light here... my own torch is going out.
I will continue to do good on this blockchain until the day I leave...
But I believe that time is rapidly approaching.
Since this is an opportunity to say something... I am speaking my peace today...

I think I’m going to explain in a post later today. I’ll let you know my official response... but for now there’s always the comments. That’s where I have been processing my current thoughts about this blockchain and it’s prospects.

I vote that ot be sent to @wesphilbin for @theterminal because our priority should be to grow Hive itself. The only way to do this is to make sure new members have the best possible chance.

Much like @theterminal and @wrestlingdesires have mentioned, this would be used for the betterment of the Blockchain. I would like to perhaps, mention something. I believe the word "onboarding" may not be the proper description, when mentioning us at @theterminal.
There are many wonderful communities, and programs... initiatives, etcetera, that are doing onboarding. That is not the focus of The Terminal. From our goal statement:
So you see, we are not an initiative that onboards new people. We help those that are here. I just wanted to perhaps, clear any misunderstanding or thoughts about what we do.
Whatever is decided, I've enjoyed the #hivetorch, and hope this POT can be continued, for many year's to come!

Support meetups :) find different hive meetup groups and split the amount anong those groups who can then decentrally decide what to do with it, for example they could use it for powering up their community or implement something similar to meet & earn that we are doing in our Vienna Hive Meetup group.

I love the idea but I think it might be it's natural time to end.
Fair enough, there were increasing difficulties by some to find new torch-naive fellows. Shows unfortunately how small the Hive universe still is. And no celebrities in the Keepers list so far.
It did show the smallness. I think I got it three times! Either that or people were just getting lazy 😃
