An Introduction of Watson

in Bulldog club2 years ago (edited)

Hello pet lovers how are you and your fur babies? Today I introduce you fully to my awesome pet friend Watson. I'm a proud owner of an English Bull Dog. Let me start from the begining bringing you to today.

Before he was named Watson he was Colby to the breeders. I'm so thankful we worked with these breeders. They were easy to work with and document there litters, sires, and dams so well. It's pretty cool to see pictures of your fur babies before you meet them for the first time.

You see they walked us through the process and asked us what color we were seeking for. Ultimately this was an early birthday present for my son. So he chose the colors. They showed us which Sire (male) and Dam (female) would give the best results. They were spot on and he was also number one born.

Watson was a litter of 3 and the only male. I recently shared with some that he was 2 years old and I apologize, he's closer to 3 years old since he was born May 8, 2020. Let me show you his mother and father.

Watson got a lot of his body color from his mother. We even got to see her when we picked him up. Her brindle fawn colors look much darker in person. He also has a smaller head and that is credit to his mother as well. Robyn is no longer with the breeders as she lives with a lucky family now.

Bentley is a handsome Bull Dog isn't he? Watson got a lot of his front view features from his father. As far as I know Bentley is still being a sire for the breeders.

I could go back another generation but I have to share some of my own photos and stories. So let's get to it shall we?

So these are some pictures I took of Watson during his first week at our home. He really wasn't comfortable going up and down stairs for a month or so. No big deal he was about 8 lbs for a short while.

When he finally went up and down stairs it's so cute to witness. They kind of jump sprint up the stairs and ours goes down them kind of sideways using his weight for momentum, hehe.

Just like any other breed they like to chew on things. I can contest we had some chairs that seen the wrath of his teeth. They take a little more patience to train compared to other dogs but that is just my opinion.

He didn't see a kennel for the first few months because my son was adamant that he sleep with him. There were some washing of sheets more often because of this. Not Watsons fault but my son not noticing the tail signs.

When we introduced him to the kennel he took to it well. He really treats that area well and doesn't mess it up. Hmm need my son to learn from him, lol.

Watson really does have a friendly personality. I grew up with other dogs but I have never had a dog that gets so many compliments, smiles, and can I pet him? He eats it up by the way he's not shy about that. Loves kids the most and will play with them. He rides well in cars and when I go through the a drive through somewhere he always gathers attention. He always has that look I know I'm cute. He will just walk over me in the car to get closer to an admirer of his. Guys if you want a chick magnet get a bull dog, hehe.

Watson has a way of convincing people to feel for him. I think all Bull Dogs have the look by looking up at you and causing you to melt to their demands. He will sometimes be a little clingy and follow you every where. They are just really loyally dogs to their owner.

If you ever decide to get one expect some vet bills. The are notorious for a lot of ailments such as ear infections, allergies, hip problems, and eye problems. They are the best droolers of all dogs. Back up if you sense a head swag they will surely slime you. Don't think they can't get up to higher places because of their low center of gravity they can jump rather well despite their size. They will find anywhere to sleep and it only takes a second once they close thier eyes to hear them snore.

Yes there may be some ailments but I surely tell you it's so much worth having one. They are a quiet dog they don't bark that much. I think it was 2 months before we heard Watson bark. Ours usually grumbles much more than barks. If they hear certain sounds it will trigger a bark.

I hope you enjoyed my tails of my English Bull Dog. I've wanted to write an article about my dog for quite some time. It was yesterday that I met two proud Bulldog owners @beautifulbullies @bulldog-joy and here I am writing about it. A special shot out to @erikah for bringing us together, thank you as always. If your a Bull Dog owner or know someone that is send them our way. We'd love to share experiences. Take care, be safe and love you all ❤️

Oh Watson, you are the most handsome boy ever! 😍 I really enjoyed reading about him, I was laughing along and nodding my head to the ‘drooling’ and ‘snoring’ comments 😂 I couldn’t have described it better myself! It sounds like you did your research on your breeder which is fantastic. Far too many times I hear horror stories of bad breeders, but yours sound amazing.
Watson, we love you and your big brown eyes! Can’t wait to follow your shenanigans Xx

Lol, you must know something 😂

Haha no, I just know Bulldogs 😂😂😂

Thanks so much. You probably hold the answers to many questions I have about breeding. That I do find interesting. Plus there many more thoughts I like to share with you to see if it's a Watson thing or a breed thing, lol

I’d be happy to answer any questions if I can! The more we spread awareness about good breeding practices, the better 😃
Haha I can’t wait to find out more about Watson personality too!

I know the dams don't last as long as the sires when it comes to breading. How long is the breeding expectancy for each?

 2 years ago (edited)

You can breed the dams from age 2 up to age 6, with a maximum of 4 litters. However if the have to have a c section, they can only have 2 litters. This applies to ethical kc breeders, but there are many unethical breeders that don’t abide by this unfortunately. The males are able to sire litters from maturity until end of life in theory

Thanks for the information. You sell the dams after their birth maturity expires?

No we keep ours with us as they are our babies 🥰

He looks so cute and adorable. ♥️🤗 I am so glad to know such things about Watson 🤗 It really feels different if you have a pet dog around that is so sweet and clingy. ,🤗

Thank you friend. He's a good boy and adores everyone.

Ok, so let's take it step by step :)

First of all, thank you for writing this post and contributing to growing this new community. I'm glad we have one and happy to see it has meaning too.

When we introduced him to the kennel he took to it well. He really treats that area well and doesn't mess it up. Hmm need my son to learn from him, lol.

😂 Go easy on him as he's a teenager.

Guys if you want a chick magnet get a bull dog, hehe.

😂 Now the question is, who's magnet is it? Yours of your son's?

Jokes aside, Watson is a sweetheart, a lovable dog for sure. I'm not a dog owner, but love them and always happy to read good stories about the. So keep these stories coming, especially now that you have two ladies in the club.

I'm was in the military I expect a clean white glove after I see if his room is clean, lol. Actually I'm not like that but I shouldn't trip when I walking in there though

It's my son's chick magnet I'm too old to play those games, lol.

For sure, Watson isn't camera shy. He's can be naughty sometimes. Mostly thinking our processions are toys.

I'm waiting for the next Watson episode to drop. Make sure you bring us some funny stories 😃 🐾

Hello 😊

Hello Spaniel :) I'm glad I posted a picture of my dog yesterday. Excited for the pet conversations.

Oh yes, hope to see more pets on hive. My dogs poppy a cocker spaniel. Lets get some more bark in here 🐶🐶

Can't deny you there as bullies do bark but not a lot

So cute and lovely your bulldog! And yes, Watson looks like very friendly 😍❤

Thanks Duvinca. Do you have any pets?

Nope, I had many years ago a bird and later a dog but not now. My brother has a hamster 🐹 ☺
Maybe one day again... it's nice to have a cute friend always close like Watson 🥰

You could use a running partner if you don't have one already, right?

That's an idea, never thought it really...

One more thing. I just left a comment to @beautifulbullies and now I'm asking you too, to keep an eye on tags. You used #bulldogs as tag, which is a good one. Always use it as clicking on it you can find all the bulldog posts on Hive, those that used the tag obviously.

Thanks I just clicked on it, lol. To myself, " Not yet grasshopper not yet"

Cute and unique color Bob.

Thanks Alice :)

Wow, looks like a fun dog to have. You are so lucky really.

Yes a good lad to spend some time with.

I am very fond of Huskey dog species, but yours is truly a marvel in it self.

Thanks they are a fun breed to appreciate

Aww, so cute Colby. My mother-in-law has a dog named Filou. My kids love Filou so much.

What kind of dog is Filiou?

I think Filou is an Affenchon. White hairy dog.

https://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/affenchon

Maybe I'm wrong, a Bichon Frise.

Oh a smaller breed right?

Yes, a smaller breed.

Watson reminded me of the Watson store 🤣.
Kidding aside, he's cute. We have a bulldog neighbor here but he's already too old.... Yours is now a big boy haha.

Yes and he thinks he's still a lap dog. Just imagine drifting away sleeping on a comfy recliner. Than have a weighted fur ball jump onto you. He's a big boy weighing over 70 lbs.

Aww, Watson is such a cutie. You should get pics of him on #threads using #dogs tag. I always scroll through this tag to see cute and funny pictures of dogs 😁

Thanks Monika :) I'll have to check out that tag as well..

It’s on LeoFinance, #threads. They’re short posts, like Twitter. Quite fun 🤩

I used to have one boxer and the shephard and now we just have gold retriever and cat. Time flies around the furkids. :)

Fur time does fly by quickly

He is so adorable when he was just a few weeks old. His personality is like the golden retriever that my friend recently adopted. She likes people as well and would approach everyone and I mean everyone for pet or just to say hello.

He is a lover not a fighter. A few weeks ago he ran away from a mouse, haha. A few minutes later he was doing his short grumbles like he was going to do something, lol

They are all cute but Watson is the handsomest, haha. I am a biased because Watson reminds me of my old dog Joko, he is my last dog and since then I couldn't get another dog for myself. Can't still move on from him, aguyyy. That dog is an Aspin but Watson and Him has the same color mine's a little darker though.

That brindle fawn colors is such a beautiful color right..Someday you'll move on Ruffa and I'm sure you will feel the presence of Joko in your next fur friend :)

It sure is, it's very unique too ❤️

Ohw ,its so cute😍😍😍
I honestly scared of dog but watson is so adorable and no reason ls for me to get afraid of him.

Thank you I tell him he has another admirer, lol. Oh yes a friendly dog for sure. He loves attention and I'm sure he would be excited to meet you :)
