This is splendid, Anna!
Despite the confusing years and oppressions, you managed to come out freely!
May your tale of coming out give others courage and comfort. You're lucky actually that your family was there to support you.
Unfortunately, that isn't true for all homosexual people. In some part of the world, the peer pressure from society and religious circles are just too great.
Few days ago, a close acquittance of mine, a south asian man in his mid 20s decided to tell me that he's gay. I'm pretty sure, unless he leaves his country, he has no hope at all of having a relationship or being free.
Hey Anna I hope you're having a good day. I just read your story, well my friend gave me the link. I was surprised, to say the least. I have never met a gay person before and to my knowledge the first battle I thought would be self-acceptance which you did splendidly. Then the hurdles that you faced, and believe me when I reach to the point that your parents have accepted your choice, I was in "phew, relieved" situation and now you're telling your story here, tremendous. I admire your strength and courage.
