When you think of Canada, typically the maple leaf comes to mind. It is our national symbol you might say. A famous Canadian artist by the name of Alma Duncan, created these images for Canada Post, all the way back in 1970, and were then issued in 1971. In Canada we have two official languages, English and French. Quite often stamps will have both languages on them. I THOUGHT IT WAS KIND OF COOL THAT THE FRENCH WORD FOR WINTER IS “HIVER”. Really neat actually. I don’t speak French myself, so I learned something new today. These pieces of art were created using a method called Lithography. I won’t bother going into detail about how this process works, but if you are interested, here is a link .

Nice little collection there! I like the colors with these, those are pretty stamps! You can tell they're older by the design, more than 50 years old. That is interesting that French for winter is Hiver, I didn't know that but my French has always been atrocious... I'm enjoying these stamp and coin posts!
It's fascinating to learn about the cultural significance of the maple leaf in Canada and how it's been portrayed through art on postage stamps. The bilingual aspect of Canadian stamps adds another layer of richness to their design and meaning. And yes, "hiver" is indeed the French word for winter
I was so happy to see these stamps of maple leaf. Reason - long back I was handling General knowledge subject for Grade 5 and in that text there was a short section about Canada and maple leaf in the International edition.
Winter Hiver is really interesting to hear about. By Canada post, it means postal stamps. I like the red colour, so different from others.

Thanks. I will keep them coming, every now and again.

There are no shortage of stamps with maples on them. In fact I will post more about that at a later date. Thanks for your interest in the subject.
Yep, the maple leaf...and maple syrup, which leads to thoughts of pancakes. Lol.
That's a whole other post right there!
Lol.

Here in Canada we have four distinct seasons, and the maple leaf goes along for the ride. That's coincidental that you were studying about it!
This was part of General knowledge questions in the International edition. 🙂
