We all wear masks

I read a news article about the backlash against mask-wearing.

It was peculiar to see so many people insisting that to wear a mask was to limit that person's freedom. That the virus is something fabricated, something invented to keep the populace in control.

The Governments finally unleashing their will to subjugate the people.

I found myself both nodding and shaking my head.

How can people believe that their governments are actually so clever?

I was still thinking on the article I read when I shopped for groceries later that day. As luck or fate would have it, outside my local store there was an old man decrying the compulsory wearing of masks.

I recognised this man, he was one of the local hobos. He was often in exactly that same spot smiling and tipping the cap as he begged for loose coins.

He was always smiling.

Not now.

Now his face was twisted with contempt and malice as he railed at the people entering the store with a mask on.

It seemed he had taken his mask off.

It got me thinking. The masks we are being asked to wear are just pieces of fabric. They go on and they come off.

Nothing to it.

Yet there is all this fuss. If there is a virus out there and I am not saying there isn't, then what is the harm in wearing a mask if it might inhibit the infection rates?

If there isn't, and we are all being duped by the New World Order then it's still just a thing.

Easy to put on, easy to take off.

Isn't it like religion? Don't a lot of people pretend to believe in God to avoid eternal damnation?

Can't we pretend to believe just in case the virus is real?

At least with the masks we are being asked to wear you can see who is actually wearing one.

Sort:

You make a really good point.

As someone pointed out in a comment on one of my posts, people get so wrapped up in their emotions about something that they become incapable of pausing to examine the practical logic of life.

Whereas masks are mandated where I live, I wear a mask because it makes sense, and that's a viewpoint I arrived at through my own observations, not as a result of laws or indoctrination.

Surgeons — even if they are in perfect health — wear masks in operating rooms to keep any germs/bacteria/viruses from spreading to patients on the operating table. I wear a mask freely because if there IS a deadly virus out there, it might help slow its spread. If there ISN'T a virus, I will have lost nothing...

I could not be more pleased to see this. it is the point that seems to be missed.

it might help slow it's spread, if there isn't then we have lost nothing

Yes! I wear mine not for me, not as a sign of apathy or subjugation by my government but for the fact that it might help the spread of this truly insidious virus.
