Coinbase looking like it wants to be a major altcoin exchange
Coinbase has been open to adding altcoins for some time now, but they are pushing them now more than ever before...
We just saw a report put out the other day where Coinbase talked about the majority of their customers eventually purchasing other coins outside of bitcoin on their platform.
I won't go into all of it here, but the takeaway was that of the people that deposit money into coinbase, over 75% of them eventually purchase some other coin besides bitcoin.
Less than 25% only stick with bitcoin...
Their takeaway was that bitcoin was predominately the gateway into the altcoin markets...
More on that can be seen here btw:
More evidence Coinbase is turning the corner on altcoins...
If you haven't been paying attention to crypto twitter as of late, you may have missed the fact that J.K. Rowling has been poking around bitcoin and asking for people to explain it to her...
More on that can be seen here:
Well, Coinbase tried to chime in as well, though they replied to a fake J.K. Rowling account...
Sigh.
Either way though, it was their overall response that I felt was so interesting...
Check it out:

The CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong not only urged her to set up a Coinbase account, but also use that bitcoin to "get into any of the many other cryptos out there".
Hmm... that sounds like a man that is changing his tune from a couple years ago where Coinbase was mostly only holding the top handful of projects out there.
This is yet further evidence that we need to be contacting Coinbase right now about getting a HIVE listing.
It may never be easier than it is right now, plus if you pull it off there is a $10k bounty being put up by a few of the prominent whales on HIVE.
Stay informed my friends.

Are you familiar with the coinbase earn promotion? They have a handful of coins that partnered with them to give out free coins as users learn about said coin and take a few small quizzes on them. If you want an example and don't mind a referral link check out- https://coinbase.com/earn/oxt/invite/j4c79r18
If you just want the general layout of it- https://www.coinbase.com/earn
I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity to expose more people to Hive and how it works.
Getting on Coinbase would be enormous for HIVE. It would further validate what we already know, Hive is around for the long-term.
For something that is barely two months old, the progress is incredible.
More fun is ahead of us.
I know I would use Coinbase to buy HIVE if it was offered.

As would I. The USD wallet on bittrex is nice, but having to use wire transfers to get money in or out is not... Coinbase lets you directly link bank accounts.
Here is an indirect process if one has both Bittrex and Coinbase accounts. Buy or Sell HIVE at Bittrex for USD or BTC. Convert USD or BTC to USDC at Bittrex. Transfer USDC to Coinbase and sell for USD and transfer to bank with zero fee or vice versa buy USDC at Coinbase and transfer to Bittrex. The slippage cost is still very low.

Is there a convert feature at Bittrex for USDC? I thought you had to buy it with BTC/USD etc?
hive needs to have coinbase sure but FIRST lets get our OWN coinbase. lets get HIVE listed on https://cryptolocally.com
it wouldn't be bad if HIVE were listed first on COINBASE PRO, then on COINBASE.
Why is that?
Because it is easier to enter COINBASE PRO first (there are already several Altcoins), and then to COINBASE
Yes, that would be a nice step, though listing on the original coinbase would make the biggest difference in terms of user adoption.
Fake CEO account commenting on fake JK Rowling account? lol
Coinbase seems like a bit of a longshot right now but we should still push for it. That'd be huge.
